Onancock Christmas Homes Tour Dec. 12th
For 15 years, the Onancock Christmas Homes Tour has been a not-to-be-missed event. Truly, this year is no exception. On Saturday, Dec. 12th, from 1 – 5 p.m., six cherished, transformed residences will open their doors to reveal treasures within.
Onancock is listed by Only in VA as one of ten “Most Beautiful, Charming Small Towns in Virginia” and by Washingtonian as one of 27 “Great Small Towns Near Washington, DC”; by Virginia is For Lovers as one of “22 Virginia Small Towns You’re Going to LOVE” in 2014; first of “Top 14 Small Cities In Virginia” by Cities Journal; and as one of “America’s Coolest Small Towns” by CBS News. It has been featured in Chesapeake Bay Magazine more than once. What makes this town so appealing? Its unique situation on Onancock Creek and its three main branches means Onancock is literally enveloped and embraced by the Creek’s waters. Each branch stretches and curves to grace this Eastern Shore bayside town with a bounty of waterfront properties. Three such residences and a fourth that overlooks the Creek are featured on this year’s tour.

About the Study
The goal of the study is to develop a plan that VDOT and the jurisdictions can implement to make U.S. Route 13 a safer and more efficient transportation facility for the traveling public over the next 20 years. The proposed update study will assess what’s been done, determine what’s left, and if the recommendations remaining are still viable. The focus remains on safety and exploring opportunities to use new technology to enhance safety and operations along the corridor.

Governor Terry McAuliffe cuts ribbon for Virginia Oyster Trail
Governor Terry McAuliffe attended the much awaited ribbon cutting ceremony which officially opens Virginia’s Oyster Trail. The Virginia Oyster Trail is a public-private partnership of stakeholders that began working together over two years ago to brand “Virginia Oyster Travel and Virginia oysters”. The trail offers visitors a way to enjoy Virginia’s seven different oyster regions, as well as experience the unique culture of watermen in the Chesapeake Bay. The trail is described by www.virginiaoystertrail.com, as “ a visitor-directed experiential “journey of discovery” program featuring Virginia’s Oyster regions; with unique waterman/aqua-artisan sites, inviting community narratives and many hospitality, creative, culinary, cultural and activity points of interest to be found along the way. Fundamental to its visitor experience attributes, the program focuses on increasing awareness of the benefits Virginia Oysters have on local economies; with emphasis on community development, environmental stewardship, entrepreneurial growth, health attributes and the cultural integration of Virginia’s distinctive aquaculture way of life.”

FOOTBALL: Broadwater loses to Isle of Wight 47 – 18
On a cold and blustery night in Isle of Wight, on a wet and muddy field, the season ended for a Broadwater football team that, over the course of a long season, was defined by speed, tenacity, grit and many times, just pure heart. Despite what can only be considered a great year, the Chargers of Isle of Wight Academy proved to be just a little too much for the Broadwater squad. The final score was Isle of Wight 47, Broadwater 18. The score, however, was not indicative of the game, which was much more contested. In the end, it was just a few plays, and the Charger’s power running behind Will Morningstar, and the clutch passing of Bryce Casey that made the difference.
Cape Charles: Time to make Bay Creek developers pay what they owe
In 1952, Carl Jung published “Synchronicity – An Acausal Connecting Principle”, which focused on his belief that events may be connected by causality; they are also connected by meaning. In recent weeks, we have had this theory tested in Cape Charles. The first event is cloaked in the skullduggery used force harbormaster Smitty Dize out of the harbor. Then, there was the mysterious proposal to try and sell the harbor, or at least lease it out to a ‘management company’. The major proponents of this strategy are also members of Bay Creek. Then, the Mirror received an anonymous response, here:
