Tyson farm in Delmarva caught on video torturing chickens

July 19, 2015 by 2 Comments

Karen Davis of United Poultry Concerns and my daughter alerted me to this story within minutes of each other. A new Mercy For Animals investigative report has exposed animal abuse at McGinnis Farm right up the road in Dagsboro, Delaware, a contract farm for Tyson Foods. Mercy for Animals undercover video shows workers violently clubbing animals to death, breaking their necks, and leaving severely sick and injured animals to die without food or water, baby birds carelessly thrown to the ground from transport crates suffering broken bones and other severe injuries, thousands of birds crammed into filthy, windowless sheds forced to live for weeks in their own waste and toxic ammonia fumes.

At this Tyson chicken factory farm, over a thousand birds died every day from the diseased and unsanitary conditions. In total, over the course of only 42 days, more than 52,000 birds died at this one farm from sickness or injuries. Those who survived were carelessly grabbed by their legs, wings, and necks and violently slammed into transport crates before being trucked to slaughter.

Warning: this video is very graphic, and may not be appropriate for some viewers.

This sounds just a tad fishy. If this chicken farm is murdering 52,000 chickens then what do they do to earn a living? This would amount to about all the chickens in two 500′ houses meaning not many live birds to be sold and processed. The farm has a large investment in all those chickens so what business person would willfully destroy his inventory?

The story about Monsanto and the Monark butterflies is suspicious to me especially when I see the name Greenpeace. There has been a problem with the Monarks I believe before the new herbicides came out. If it kills Monarks why are not other spices affected?

Many people are buying into this climate change and green energy hype and will rue the day when electric rates go through the roof. There are side effects to wind turbines such as eagles and other birds being killed by the huge spinning blades.

With the Monsanto herbicide and the genetically modified seeds along with no-till it saves many trips over the field and much less diesel fuel to grow soybeans, corn and wheat meaning less carbon and pollution plus reducing the need for fossil fuel.

These environmentalists are like a person with a new car, afraid to take it out of the garage lest it get a scratch or a dent, or even get dirty. So, look at the bay but don’t use it, look at the forests and the trees but don’t cut them, don’t use the land for houses and farms and leave bambi alone.
A lot of resources will be destroyed by nature so it makes sense to use them. We all need houses, food, water, heat, fuel and electricity is wonderful with lights, TV, A/C, refrigeration, well pump, computers and many other wonders.

Back when there was a market for fur we didn’t have the rabies problem we have had and still have in Accomack with the racoons and other animals. The problem with wildlife is that without management they over populate, get disease and get killed by cars and other animals.

Editor’s Note: In the late 1980s, a group of intrepid explorers, including one of the Mirror staff (Creed) did embark on a mission to Baltimore to meet our favorite Dreamlander, Edith Massey. After looking in at least 14 bars, to our sadness, we found that Ms. Massey recently passed away. The sassy bartender did have copies of Massey’s hit songs, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Punks, Get Off The Grass”, which she played for us several times.

You folks should watch ‘Pink Flamingos’…..as you all are obsessed with chickens.
