ONANCOCK, Va. – Since 1949, May has been recognized as Mental Health Month in the United States. In addition, May is celebrated as Older Americans Month. Riverside’s Senior Perspectives program honors both May designations by offering free depression and memory screenings for the public.
The free and confidential screenings are offered on Wednesday, May 29th from 10am to 2pm at the Senior Perspectives office in the Accawmacke Office Park in Accomac. Call 757-302-2128 to make an appointment.
Senior Perspectives is a day program designed to help older adults cope with the challenges that can accompany aging, such as feelings of isolation, depression and loneliness. The program offers individual and group counseling, exercise, therapeutic activities and a healthy lunch in its Accomac location. Transportation is provided if needed. Medicare and most private insurances cover the costs of the program.
