According to the Virginia Department of Health, the total number of vaccinations confirmed in Virginia as of Friday was 481,550–this includes doses of the two vaccines that have been distributed across Virginia.
On the Eastern Shore, as of January 3rd, there have been 213 vaccinations in Accomack with 103 in Northampton.
A large difference between the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses distributed and the number of doses administered is expected due to several factors. The vaccine is distributed in large quantities and should then be administered in clinics over the next 7-10 days. Additionally, healthcare providers report doses to Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS) up to 72 hours after administration.
Doses Administered: Cumulative counts of COVID-19 vaccine doses (Moderna and Pfizer) administered as reported to VIIS since December 14, 2020. This number is updated from VIIS everyday.
New Vaccine Doses Administered: Number of COVID-19 vaccine doses (Moderna and Pfizer) administered the previous day and reported to VDH by 4am the day of report. As past VIIS reports are updated, the cumulative Doses Administered number will increase but it won’t be reflected in New Vaccine Doses Administered.
Doses Distributed: Cumulative counts of COVID-19 vaccine doses (Moderna and Pfizer) recorded as shipped in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Tracking System (VTrckS) since December 13, 2020.
Note: Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is sometimes a two-step process. A person will get one shot, or dose, of the vaccine. After 3-4 weeks, a person will need to get a second dose of the vaccine. Getting both doses of the vaccine is important. This will help the vaccine protect people from getting COVID-19 or becoming as sick if they do get COVID-19.

Yeah, we file this under bottom, news because Uncle Ralph has not seen fit to tell those that distribute the vaccine that it should be evenly didtributed by county. By percentage. The front line workers, and those at highest risk, should be receiving the initial doses in equal percentages in every county. Spread the wealth so to speak. Of course to think Uncle Ralph would do such a fair and just thing is to be unexpected. Some counties have received tens of thousads of the vaccines and some have received virtually none. And it is of course fine if you think we are guinea pigs and you don’t want any. That is your choice. I fully realize the polio vaccine, small pox etc. vaccines didn’t work either. But if it’s all the same to the Uncle Ralph i’d like to stand up and say I’d like my 2 doses please. Ralph has left The Eastern Shore lying on the table as if we are deplorable.

For anyone that is interested, The Onley Med Center has Covid19 vaccine available now for 75 and older seniors. Must make an appointment. Perhaps the med center closer to Cape Charles also has it.
Paul Plante says
Who should be getting the vaccine is the young people who are socially active, and for the sake of the economy, are needed to be socially active.
Giving it to only people who are over 75 is STUPID!
And to be clear, I am in that older group!
Why should I get the vaccine before the young people the nation relies on to be out there working?
STUPID!
Mjm says
We’ll, to use the CCM as a bit more of a community bulletin board…….I learned Thursday that I actually qualify for a covid19 shot NOW. I qualify as an Aquaculture Farmer in the 1B category along with teachers, police etc. I am not sure I understand why anyone is more important than another but I can’t change all that. So as I sit here at the dock at 6 a.m. waiting for my crew to bring in 40 baskets of clams at 6 a.m. I want all you aquaculture workers to callthe local med center. Their OGM will tell you that you qualify. And Paul, I think the CDC is acting like The Capitol Police and are just trying to keep the body count down. While we do need the young to contribute, the young don’t want to have to mourn the losses of their elders. Be a guinea pig ! It’s a solid contribution we can make to the data gathering !
Paul Plante says
Be a guinea pig?
It’s a solid contribution we can make to the data gathering?
No, I’m taking the pass, again reiterating that it is STUPID to be giving the vaccine to older people like myself who doesn’t go out in public and keeps the public from coming near him.
I’ve just had two people I grew up with die of COVID.
One was dying of Parkinson’s at the time.
Not sure about the other but he was older than me and went quick.
Do you think the one with Parkinson’s should have got the vaccine so he wouldn’t have died of the COVID, but the Parkinson’s instead?
In the meantime, the ones who are out there spreading the disease can’t get the vaccine.
STUPID!
Old people don’t keep the economy running, MJM, except for the medical portion of the economy, and that is because they are old and sick.
So, let’s keep them alive so they will continue to pay their medical bills and keep the economy going that way?
There should be vaccination stations set up on every street corner and everybody who walks by who hasn’t been vaccinated gets vaccinated.
So why aren’t there?
MJM says
Paul, you sound like a progressive who complains and complains and complains with no solutions. The vaccine is a solution. No matter what group(s) are given the shot first we won’t make everybody happy. You are living proof. I don’t know why there aren’t stations on the corner to get shots. Because you didn’t buy them ? How about that’s a nutty idea ? There’s lots of places to use that already exist. You got a brother in law in the pre fab housing business trying to land a government contract ? (sarcasm) This procedure is not a McDonald’s cheeseburger. It takes specific storage and guidelines to properly deliver as you well know, and if you don’t want the shot, that’s fine. I’m an old fart myself and still contribute in my way so we are not all in the same boat staying at home and just watching t.v. I’m out every day watching the world turn and helping to feed it. I’m sorry for the person with Parkinson’s but that’s not the only question. Stats show that old farts are dying more often who are relatively healthy otherwise. How about we be sarcastic and say the Funeral Homes are running out of caskets so we gotta slow this death shit down as fast as we can so people can be respectfully put to rest in a nice casket? The best way to do that is vaccinate seniors. Here’s a problem for you. My employees in aquaculture qualify for vaccine now . They are 25-35 years old. They don’t follow guidelines. They are tough guys who think they are indestructible. and don’t care if they get it. What do we do about them ? How about they refuse to get a shot because the press makes them believe it’s overblown b.s ? So now the people that you want to give it to won’t get it and will be running around and catching and spreading it forever. So the vaccine that gets made and packed and shipped for them goes bad because they don’t step up to get a shot ? There’s a ton of questions and a ton of problems and we can fix it one vaccine at a time. Get it or not. That’s up to you. Sounds self destructive though. VERY FEW bad reactions are coming to light. Best of luck to us all with our decisions.
Paul Plante says
If it is a solution for you, MJM, then go for it is my advice.
However, it is not a solution for me.
You need the vaccine to make your immune system work.
Fine and good!
I don’t.
I nurture my immune system, MJM, and so it is there when I need it, like right now.
The very best way I personally can think of to become immune to COVID is to catch it and then survive it.
This COVID makes you frightful, MJM., and I can accept that.
Being frightful weakens your immune system.
Hence you need the vaccine as a substitute for what your own body should be doing naturally, which is activating the innate and adaptive immune systems to deal with this invader.
I don’t.
And I really want no interaction with the people pushing this **** of any kind.
I am not leaving the sanctuary of my own home to go out in their world to seek these people out to get a shot of God knows what that I don’t need.
I live in the natural world, it sustains me, and in the natural world, there is constant death.
Nature, and one would think you of all persons would know this, abhors weakness.
And so, periodically, it culls the herd, plain and simple.
That is what it is doing with COVID right now, and the COVID, as you must have noticed, is rapidly evolving to make it a more efficient predator, if not killer, and that is because it is doing nature’s work.
You believe that Donald Trump could give a couple of for-profit drug companies several billions of dollars of public funds to develop in a short time a wonder drug to defeat nature’s purpose.
You believe Donald Trump can protect you from nature with his miracle pill.
I trust in myself.
I wouldn’t trust Donald Trump to walk my dog.
MJM says
Hold on a minute Paul. Don’t go assuming you know anything about my psyche or immune system. I am not afraid of catching covid19, but I don’t want to catch it. I am not right now afraid of being shot but am not about to egg on someone with a loaded gun. You do whatever you want. You say you’re not concerned about catching it but you’ve isolated yourself in your home. No wonder you have no concens. I go to the dock 5 days a week and certainly know the natural world of survival of the fittest. If you don’t learn that quick in a tidal swamp for a desk you won’t be there long. The water is 44 degrees right now. We’re not about to goclamming w/o the right gear. Sure, we’re tough. But there’s a monster out there called hypothermia. I’ve survivrd it. How many times should I tempt fate ? I never said Donald Trump can protect me from nature with a miracle pill, and you’re smarter than that to use such a sideways remark. You know Trump didn’t create or manufacture this vaccine. He’s not in the picture. You’re just being stubborn and won’t admit that most people should get this. This isn’t the common cold or swine flu. It often hurts a lot more, has worse side effects and leaves lingering problems. So does a .22 bullet ricocheting around inside my skull. I can survive but what the hell does that prove ? it might prve I was too stubborn to duck.
Paul Plante says
EVERYBODY who wants the **** should get it, and pronto!
**** these stupid categories!
Get the stuff in people’s arms who want the ****.
Biden says that is what he is going to do.
He is scrapping Trump’s OPERATION WARPED SPEED and its people and he is replacing it with something else with a name of his own, something like OPERATION LIGHT SPEED, and installing new people to oversee it because he says the reason nobody can get the vaccine is because Trump is not doing his job, and Joe’s people are going to correct that and in the first hundred days or something like, innocculate some large number of millions of people, and I’m for that, MJM.
Get the **** out there!
Biden is going to make that happen!
Biden is good!
Biden is great!
Yea, Biden!

When I was young, we got vaccinated in school.
Why isn’t that being done here to prevent these kids or young adults from continuing to be super-spreaders?
Why do we have ******* morons in charge of something so important as this?
GLund says
Well that’s an easy answer Paul – they are called Trump Republicans. Remember, this was all suppose to magically disappear. Who needs science?

“Moderna says possible allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccine under investigation”
By Reuters Staff
January 19, 2021
(Reuters) – Moderna Inc said on Tuesday it had received a report from California’s health department that several people at a center in San Diego were treated for possible allergic reactions to its COVID-19 vaccine from a particular batch.
The company’s comments come after California’s top epidemiologist on Sunday issued a statement recommending providers pause vaccination from lot no. 41L20A due to possible allergic reactions that are under investigation.
“A higher-than-usual number of possible allergic reactions were reported with a specific lot of Moderna vaccine administered at one community vaccination clinic.”
Moderna said it was working closely with U.S. health regulators to understand the cases and whether pausing the use of the lot was warranted.
