It is always a busy time of year in Cape Charles, with Festive Fridays, Grand Illuminations, Golf Cart parades, Boat parades, and other holiday events that seem to roll off the cuff. All these events really ring in the season here on the lower shore. However, some may wonder if all this stuff is really about the Joy of the Season, or about supporting local business–which is not a bad thing.
On the B-side, many of us still harken back to the A Charlie Brown Christmas, hoping for a less commercialized version of the holiday.
If you are looking for a more low-key, rural approach that truly expresses what the season is really all about, you can find it a little closer to the seaside in the village of Cheriton.
Cheriton seems to incorporate the best aspects of the Holiday season, namely, spending time with and forging stronger relationships with family, and, of course, creating memories of those special times we get to spend with the ones that we love most.
Sometimes Christmas is not so much pomp and circumstance, but quiet moments of reflection about the past, present, and future. Thank you to all the folks of Cheriton that did their best to make this Christmas season special.
