The rows of structures across from the Eastville Inn, which have been plagued with a series of structural issues, have caught the eye of Eyre Baldwin, who proposes to enter into a lease/purchase agreement with the county. According to Baldwin, this will give his consultants an opportunity to assess the status of the buildings so his firm can determine the feasibility of rehabilitation efforts.
Baldwin said he was looking into the possibility of turning one of the structures into a community kitchen.
Eastville Mayor Sturgis voiced support for having one of Baldwin’s companies take on the deteriorating buildings. The row would require having a sewer pipe drilled under the road. The estimated cost for the pipe construction is $75,000.00.
The county has decided to move forward, having County Attorney Bruce Jones explore a possible agreement with Baldwin.
