Sent to Cape Charles Mirror via Anonymous Post. We are posting it here because many, many folks, including the Mirror, have experienced this.
Friday 9/21/2018 after lunch at the beautifully renovated Northampton Hotel , I walked over to the head of the fishing pier .
Standing by the flagpole the breeze was from the southeast and it smelled like an open sewer . It was foul .
I have seen similar postings in The Mirror and denials .
I’m reporting this because I really value Cape Charles . It’s an important part of my life and I want Cape Charles to continue to thrive .
However , if there is a serious plan to remedy this serious problem , I have seen no signs of one yet .

That location by the new hotel has smelled for years. Try standing there for the fireworks. It also smells on Mason Ave near Strawberry street. This is nothing new. Who would deny it and why?

That is what liberal democrats smell like….

While I find it hard to argue Stuart’s point-it simply contains too much truth-I have to say to anyone who ponders the effervescence of Cape Chuck:
DUDE YOU LIVE ON A BAY THAT EXPERIENCES TIDAL SHIFTS THAT ALLOW THE MUD-MADE UP OF LOTSA DEAD FISHIES, PLANTS AND CRUSTACEANS-AIR ACCESS.
EVERY BAY IN THE WORLD HAS A LOW TIDE SMELL.
And some have a high tide one, too.
Virginia Gentleman says
Yes, Tidal Mudflats reek. Perhaps life did develop from the slime.
Easy Peasey says
The town should put up a 50 foot tower to distribute the sewer gas higher into the atmosphere. It is a simple fix and it is done all over the country in low lying costal towns.
