Arts Enter Youth Theater Group Meets Jan 15th

January 9, 2022 by Leave a Comment

The Arts Enter Theater Group will begin its spring season Friday, January 14th at 5:00 PM. The class meets in the Palace Theater Backstage area, in the 10 – 12 section of Strawberry Street in Cape Charles.

The class is designed for ages 12 to 17. All levels of experience are encouraged, from beginners to folks who have been performing for a while.

The Theater class involves four aspects of stage performance:

Stage Movement – the exercises are designed to develop different qualities and skills. Among them are Balance, Coordination, Rhythmicity, Sense of Space, and Flexibility, to name a few.

Stage Vocals – musical theater vocal exercises focus on vocal technique, vocal style, performance, and general musicianship. Vocal stage technique combines songs with the development of artistry and style.

Stage Reading – sometimes called cold reading, the actor will be reading from the script. The is a major tool used to build confidence for the audition process for all mediums including theatre, film, television, and commercials.

Improv/Theater Games – Improv Games are fundamental in the drama classroom and develop student confidence, storytelling, spontaneity, creativity, group bonding, performance techniques, and more. We encourage students to be as silly and creative as they want and to have as much fun with the exercises as possible.

The fee (which helps offset cleaning and disinfecting the space) is $75 for the entire semester which ends in the summer.

The final project is a live performance in Cape Charles Central Park. Students are not required to act in the performance if they do not want to, but helping out backstage with Tech, makeup, and costumes is encouraged.
