Belle Haven and Exmore Communities Receive Residential Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Service from the ESVBA

September 23, 2018 by Wayne Creed 3 Comments

EXMORE, VA. (Sept. 18, 2018) — The Eastern Shore of Virginia Broadband Authority (ESVBA) is proud to announce that they are now offering Fiber to the Home (FTTH) broadband service to Belle Haven and Exmore, VA.

Exmore and Belle Haven residents can now connect their homes to reliable, high-speed, 100% fiber-optic internet services via ESVBA’s reliable network for as little as $39.99 per month. Residents may request home service immediately by calling ESVBA’s residential support line at 757-709-7080.

“We are committed to our mission, and excited to continue our push to bring Fiber to the Home service to residents all along Virginia’s Eastern Shore,” Robert Bridgham, Executive Director of ESVBA said. “Adding Exmore and Belle Haven to the ESVBA coverage map continues the growth of our connected community and provides exciting new opportunities for local residents to take full advantage of rapidly advancing capabilities in telehealth, telecommuting, remote education services, and more. This is an important project for the shore and we look forward to announcing service availability for many more local communities in the not- so-distant future.”

Since the Board of Directors voted in November of 2018 to expand FTTH service across Virginia’s Eastern Shore, the ESVBA has connected 12 new local communities to the network. A list of all seventeen communities on Virginia’s Eastern Shore with active FTTH service is available on ESVBA.com.

Cape Charles is the fastest growing town in Northampton County. Why don’t we have fiber optic to the home? The fiber optic cable runs right to the “Hump”. What is stopping us from this service. Why doesn’t the Town Council create a task force to get this done? Instead, we are wasting time and money on the Strawberry Street Plaza. Makes you wonder about the agenda.

FTTH will be open in the town of Cape Charles in November. The town doesn’t own the fiber and has no direct influence over it.
