The Cape Charles Town Council voted to adopt the new Community Strategic Plan. Eight people submitted comments regarding the plan, however, most were dismissed by Council.
The goal of this new approach is to help with long-term planning by providing a “more aspirational” design plan that will rely more heavily on citizen opinions and involvement.
Annual surveys will play a large in role in the mix, including gathering input on the community’s small town chararcter, and beach maintenance.
Community Strategic Plan Goals
• To retain the small-town character of Cape Charles
• To maintain the authentic character of the historic district
• To protect and maintain the beach
• To protect and maintain the harbor
• To plan for coastal resiliency
• To protect and improve public green/open space infrastructure
• To retain and expand businesses in a business-friendly environment
• To advance a variety of housing options for younger families and workforce
• To meet our residents’ expectation for Town services

I would like to add one more plan to the list
To protect and enhance the concrete plant so it will double in size and employment.
Note: Right on, brother. Don’t stop fighting the power ✊🤘

Scotiagirl is with you, Grumpy Old Man, on the concrete plant! Could someone please define “coastal resiliency” for her?

First, I would like to know the eight comments that were “mostly” dismissed.
Secondly: “To advance a variety of housing options for younger families and workforce” Does that mean
“affordable housing”?

No such thing in CC

Hi Brand
“No such thing in CC”. I assume you refer to the housing. I only mention “affordable housing” in this manner is because there is virtually no housing available to younger families etc. in the “CC’ (as you put it).
Secondly, I have witnessed such promises before in NY and Long Island……
Wonderful words Affordable, resiliency, protect, Been there , done that.
Just looking for a definition and not the “bumper sticker” version as committees like to do.
Thank You Brand
Bob

The words affordable housing cry out to be completed. Affordable for a retired surgeon, a fast food worker, bill gates, someone in the 1%, high school dropout, person living off
Welfare???????
Note: This is just feel-good BS, they’ve been babbling about this for 25 years. They have no idea what the concept means, especially in the context of Cape Charles.
