This just shows once again what a speed trap CC is. I bet plenty of new equipment will be coming from this financial windfall(lowering speed limits around town) .
Charles McWilliams says
NO ONE SHOULD BE SPEEDING THROUGH THE NARROW STREETS OF CAPE CHARLES!
As cars are parked close together, no motorist approaching at 25 mph, let alone 10 to 15 MPH over the speed limit, could stop in time if a child ran out after a ball or a pedestrian stepped out to access the driver’s side door.
More should be in favor of, out in support for law enforcement doing their diligence in Cape Charles and in the surrounding county. It is not about revenue, it’s about preserving safety. Pedestrian safety at a time when an increasingly hostile mentality behind the wheel, “gives a damn, about everyone else.”
Next time you see an officer, pulling over a car or pickup truck. A reminder; next time that “may be you!”
As there is an ordinance for too loud or modified exhaust systems for gasoline and diesel pickup trucks, a majority of the readers would like to see this, “on the books” rule, enforced as well.
Charles McWilliams says
Speeding 56 MPH in a 25 MPH zone is 31 MPH OVER THE SPEED LIMIT!!
A disregard of this magnitude for the lives and safety of another should result in the immediate revocation of the driver’s license.
I am angry and disgusted over the perceived thoughtlessness of a subset of our society, who considers their cavalier actions permissible.
Daniel Burke says
The speed limit is 25 throughout town. If the town wanted a financial windfall all they would have to do is set up radar on Madison Ave. Madison doesn’t have any dips or bumps, thus it’s a super highway. No one seems to care. Maybe it will take a child getting hit to wake people up.
Charles McWilliams says
No One Should Be Speeding Through The Narrow Streets and Corridors of Poor Visibility, which comprise Cape Charles.

Please, if you check the majority of these tickets are being written on the harbor road,by old reliable building and bay-creek road not on the in town roads. Don’t fool yourself the new speed limit changes were for the golf cart crowd and revenue. I support the police and think their job is very difficult.I do not however support a revenue based driven enforcement. The money for theses tickets should go toward local charities or even local schools, then let’s see if the numbers increase or decrease.
Charles McWilliams says
The “un-intelligentsia, is a percentage of those heading towards or departing their shift at Bay Shore Concrete, the marina, and industrial park. Alluding the watchful eye of Northampton’s deputy positioned recently at Bay Storage’s property. For when said deputy’s vehicle was not present, a stream of those traversing Parsons Circle and Old Cape Charles Road at speeds in excess of legal, is commonplace. The jurisdiction of Northampton County (Parsons Circle including Old Cape Charles Road), in contrast to the speed reduction from 50 to 25 mph, found on County 184 a.k.a., Stone Road; is the logical choice of least resistance. Consequently, a no-holds-barred route of choice, for those with no-stake-in-the-game, who’ve never lost a loved one…two loved ones, to an aggressive driver. Those whose diesel and YOT roar, is a stick in the heart reminder of what might have been. As I speak from the authority of what was, please try to think of someone other than yourself and slow down, to save a life.
