Cape Charles voted Third Happiest Seaside Town by Coastal Living

June 10, 2018 by 9 Comments

The results are in, and Cape Charles was voted the 3rd happiest seaside town in the U.S. by Coastal Living Magazine.

Our little town beat out some heavyweights such as Vero Beach, FL and Canon Beach, Oregon for the honor.

Here’s what the magazine had to say about Cape Charles:

A Victorian-era planned community near the mouth of Chesapeake Bay on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, Cape Charles is enjoying a bona fide renaissance as urban exiles discover its brick storefronts, public beach and fishing pier, fresh seafood, and nationally ranked golf courses. The town harbor is a great spot to watch watermen off-load blue crab, clams, scallops, and fish.

Funny how Cape Charles isn’t even a seaside town. Its a BAYSIDE town.

We consider a variety of waterfronts as ‘seaside’ at Coastal Living, Pok: Chesapeake Bay, some tidal rivers, and even the Great Lakes (they might be freshwater, but they are technically inland seas). Fundamentally, we think towns like yours are full of character informed by the waters of the world, so we include it. Hope you agree!

How bout stop trying to make things out to be something they are not? This is what’s wrong with society these days.

We consider one side of The Shore that faces the sea, The Seaside and the side that faces the bay, The Bayside. It could not be any simpler to understand. Fundamentally, we view liberals, such as yourself, the greatest threat to our country that exist today.

So no, you do not get to change the definition to suit you.

Wait…..what?? Is it your contention that (a) expansion of the descriptor “Seaside” to include a body of water that actually joins the ocean at its southernmost tip is an evil plot necessarily hatched by liberals, and (b)such a notion is “the greatest threat to our county that exists today?”

If the shoe fits wear it. I did not accept the liberal change of the definition of marriage either. Every Eastern Shoreman knows the difference between a Baysider and a Seasider. You can pick them out of a crowd if dressed in their work clothes.

Damn shame what you people have done to The Shore.

The town better get moving to provide or allow more amenities such as more public restrooms (especially on the beach front), more restaurants, food/sundry markets, etc. There is not even a laundromat in town. Keep on ignoring these basics and the tourist bonanza will slow to a trickle again. The horse has been put before the horse I think…

For those idiots who don’t know, the bayside is west. The seaside is east. So face north, head home, and stay out the south.
