Boatyard operations at Cape Charles Yacht Center will be turned over to JB Turner, president and co-owner of Front Street Shipyard in Belfast, Maine, and Nicole Jacques, owner of Rhumbline Communications, also in Belfast.
Turner and Jacques said they are developing a multi-year expansion plan with the support of investors that includes a 30,000-square-foot repair facility, a 600-ton mobile hoist, and additional floating docks.
“We identified Cape Charles Yacht Center as an ideal location for superyacht services because its central for vessels traveling along the East Coast between New England and Florida,” Turner said. “For years we’ve encouraged our customers at Front Street Shipyard to stop into Cape Charles when traveling south, and their feedback has been very positive about the location, quality of service, and amenities.”
“We intend to maintain Cape Charles Yacht Center’s great reputation for service among their existing customers throughout Chesapeake Bay,” Jacques said. “Our first initiative is to grow the yard’s talented workforce and equip them with more modern equipment so we can attract additional international vessels seeking service and major refits.”
The property is in a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), eliminating many duty costs for visiting vessels.
Cape Charles Yacht Center remains in full operation as the expansion plans continue to develop and construction of the service facility begins.
The yard is hiring mechanics, riggers, and composites technicians. For more information on that, visit ccyachtcenter.com/employment or email info@ccyachtcenter.com.

A very exciting prospect for the harbor area, with jobs and revenue coming to Cape Charles

Lots of skilled year round jobs! Welcome to Cape Charles!

With growth and expansion, we should hope accountability and fairness should come, too. I can’t say that they have a stellar reputation among local recreational boaters. They tend to lose track of billed work hours, can’t return a phone call, nor can they quote prices for simple work. It’s going to be a long road ahead, and I hope the new owners are aware of the mismanagement and poor quality that we’ve come to expect from the CC Yacht Center. Let’s hope things turn around quickly!

I have had my boat serviced at the Cape Charles Yacht Center for 4 years. They have always been responsive, prompt and did exceptional work. I don’t know who Rufus T. Firefly (if that is your real name) is or if you live or even have a boat in Cape Charles but your comments are completely off based.

The area needs a boost economically and this would help so many residents who are skilled but unemployed or under employed! It is hoped that employment sustainability will be continual and afforded to all.

Are your words supposed to have more meaning if you put ‘Dr.’ in front of your name?
