The Mirror received this comment via email this morning, “I am astounded that you did not give any coverage/comments to this in the CCM. Surely, you must know the history. Quick review:
This fiasco was started by Willie Randall as BoS Chair severely criticizing the Comprehensive Plan during a planning training session conducted by Dr. Mike Chandler. Hubbard was a member of that training session as I believe, was Payne. Randall & the subsequent BoS then proceeded to appoint and support the CPAC group and eliminate those from the Planning Commission who attempted to keep the PC operating within the Comp Plan. Those actions/inactions have led directly to Chairperson Chatmon’s Planning Commission bogus Draft Comp Plan with huge amounts of money wasted through salaries and work hours.”
The writer was referring to an article by Andrew Follmer that appeared in this month’s Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore’s Shoreline Newsletter. We agree that The Cape Charles Mirror dropped the ball on this issue. We are reprinting Mr. Follmer’s analysis of the current Northampton County Draft Comprehensive Plan, with permission from CBES:

Does this mean the county’s stuck with a bogus useless document cooked up by a Planning Commission running wild? The old Supervisors Board flushed hundreds of thousands of dollars down the toilet on this mess? And we still don’t have it right. Maybe we can elect a couple of new Supervisors on Tuesday who can control that Planning Commission and get the county back on the right track.
