Spencer Murray announced at Tuesday’s Regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors that he will not seek re-election in this fall’s election.
“I plan to pursue the life I promised myself over 50 years ago when I started to work,” said Murray in a prepared statement.
Murray came back to the board during the dramatic fight over the now infamous 2015 zoning. Back then, Murray told the Mirror, “I don’t understand this. Government should be boring.”
During his tenor, Murray has done just that. He has brought back a level of civility and nuance, as well as a penchant for balance, good governance and integrity.
“For the remainder of 2019 I intend to work diligently with my fellow supervisors to complete the positive efforts we have underway,” Murray said.

Opinion:
The Franktown/Wellington Neck Mafia has got a stronghold on the District 4 seat, or so they seem to think. Someone please look into all of the corrupt politicians & other crooked appointed officials that come from this area of the Shore & currently hold court in the Eastville seat.
The motto of the Franktown/Wellington Neck Mafia should state – ‘Even if we are in the wrong legally & constitutionally, We the Franktown/Wellington Neck Mafia are still always RIGHT.
But hey we should remember these come here people from the Franktown/Wellington Neck area have money & comprise most of the current local Northampton government & they never make mistakes, right?…several of them even graduated from law school & they know the LAW, right? I mean they own horses, play golf at the country club, & have people to polish their silverware so they must ALWAYS BE CORRECT…right?
Or how about this for the Franktown/Wellington Neck Mafia motto – ‘RIGHTS? YOU DON’T HAVE ANY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS…we make those up as we see fit.’
Or how about this for the Franktown/Wellington Neck Mafia motto – Private property? Your property is our property because this is Northampton County Virginia & we run it & we’ve outlawed private property here in Northampton County Virginia, except of course for our own…
WELLINGTON: An English surname derived from a place name (originally ‘Weolintun’), possibly meaning “From the Wealthy Estate”.
These come here lawyers living in Wellington may be from the ‘wealthy estate’ but that’s because they’ve unsettled so many innocent people’s estates with their LAW DEGREES that they became wealthy.
Has anyone seen a lawyer sue another lawyer in Virginia? I have not…better watch your land & property rights around these people…because they aim to take it.
