The American Experiment has Failed.
On the Minneapolis streets outside Trump’s rally, there was a rather tense stand-off between police officers and protesters chanting: “Whose streets? Our streets.” There was also a chant of, “Kill a cop, save a life.” Left-wing protestors also burned MAGA hats and yelled, “This is not a safe place for Trump supporters.” Meanwhile, Portland issues standdown orders and allows Antifa thugs to rule the streets…and as LA stands by and allows large swaths of the city to become a socially acceptable fecal-ridden drop city.
How could we as a society devolve into such a scene?
The answer lies in a circular historical process that takes a society from naïve and self-promoting beginnings to self-contempt and decline.
We see it all the time, not just from idiotic left-wing protestors.
This past July the San Francisco School Board voted to remove a mural of George Washington from one of its public schools because of its purported racism. Talk about your cultural self-hatred. George Washington? Really? This is what happens to once-great cultures that are now in decline.
In 1929 Sigmund Freud published his essay Civilization and Its Discontents. In it, Freud has noted something termed the “narcissism of small differences”, which is the urge to compete against others even through minor distinctions like a virtuous action becomes one motivation through which a particular interest expresses its superiority over others.
This happens once there is finally enough wealth and power for the birth of a leisure class. The leisure class, as well as people lower on the social order, become more occupied with achieving higher states of wealth and prestige versus their fellow citizens than they are with the health of the community itself.
Diversity sets in and different groups see each other as greater enemies than they do foreign threats. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, our main enemy has been successfully repulsed, it can no longer serve as an effective target for an outlet of people’s sense of superiority. Al Quida briefly filled the role, but that was short-lived. As people, we need an adversary for the purpose of self-identification, and so a new adversary is created, other people in our county.
As we become more affluent, there is greater opportunity to exceed and a chance for people to start criticizing their own culture in an effort to get ahead personally.
Those that are effectively critical of the state of things occupy the left, or progressive wing, while those that are somewhat nationalistic or even xenophobic (MAGA), tend to occupy the right-wing realm. To see so much anger and hostility is to be expected. America has reached its peak and is now on the downside of history.
As always, things are done backward. We need progressivism in the early stages when we need affluent and new ideas, but we need conservatism later in the game as a way to retain the good foundation that the culture was built on. However, America has done the opposite.
The un-pious gods of diversity and multi-culturalism are leading us down the path of decline– it is indicative of how we have let other cultures crowd out our own. Is it not possible to have an educated view of the world, to express interest in and to learn from other traditions while at the same time remaining appreciative of our own heritage?
It seems not…the more we embrace the idea of cultural diversity, the farther we are removed from the sources and thereby the understanding of our own culture. Decay and entropy thus set in.
The Russian Collusion Hoax, now the Ukraine Phone Call Hoax, and the Impeachment are all symptoms of the Left’s general self-loathing masked in the outward phenomena of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome).
Somehow, in all this hatred for the President, the Left is overlooking serious efforts to undermine the Republic (and replace it with the mob rule of Democracy). We are talking about efforts to collude with Russian and British spies to purchase the fake dossier (paid for by Fusion GPS which is linked to the Clinton Campaign), the dossier that authorized FISA warrants which were later used to weaponize the Intel community against the Trump Campaign. We are talking about President Barack Obama being aware of the efforts of the FBI to spy and gather enough dirt to undo the 2016 election (a work still in progress. See the Strzok, Page texts). And the beat goes on.
The Great American Experiment has failed, just another lost mutation littering the corpse laden path of history. What the land will look like in fifty years is anyone’s guess, but it will not resemble what the Founders envisioned. It may be an autocratic-led democracy (mob rule), or some form of H.G. Wells-like dystopic socialism with 99% living in self-imposed barracks while our democratic rulers live in the high-rises.
As the Lunatic Left froths at the mouth over Trump’s impeachment (for investigating the corrupt Obama deep-state Morlocks), it may be time for the rest of us to gather and understand what is happening as the attack on the Republic gains strength.
It is time to define the war.

The American Experiment has failed.. Well I’d say that’s a negative opinion and an overreaction. I didn’t know we were an experiment, or that someone stuck a fork in all of us. Does my business still exist ? I guess I don’t have to pay taxes any more ?
Even though sometimes I think I need a drink to convince myself too.
Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know why I think I see more emotion creating opinions in these posts than other readers. I seem to think there are some overreactions being written in here……How could we as a society devolve into such a scene ? Well, are we devolving? Or is this simply our continuous evolution ? It appears to me like Americans are being Americans and the whiners just get more attention. I don’t like a lot of the stupidity I read is being played out in many areas, but I think a lot of all that is our press overblowing much of it.
I think I read somewhere, maybe a couple of times, that about 250 years ago some angry upstarts in the 13 British Colonies started yelling and screaming “taxation w/o representation” and were trying to brew tea in Boston Harbor. A few demonstrations like that. The darned rebellious ones were throwing stones, refusing to pay taxes and even, lo and behold, meeting in the streets in crowds and yelling antigovernment slogans ! Can you imagine ! ?
“The un-pious gods of diversity and multi-culturalism are leading us down this path of decline-it is indicative of how we have let other cultures crowd out our own.”
WHAT !! ??? Is that that age old saying “There goes the neighborhood?”
Look, I seriously disagree with a lot of the violent words and actions I hear in the press that take place at some protests these days. It does sound and appear to me like some folks are jamming their liberal agendas loudly down our throats w/o regard for common decency or many of the laws of this fine republic. I think we defined the war 250 years ago. I’m certainly not ready to throw in the towel just because the protesters scream for attention with their 5G weapons of mass communication. That’s for the French to do on their side of the pond.
Ho Hum….and I have to wait til tomw. to see results from Talladega. God Bless America !
Staff Sergeant (Retired) Jack Garrett says
When someone “defines” the war and open fire on other Americans and have the “Fort Sumter” moment I look forward to watching the fine men and women of our local law enforcement take them out. No one on the shore has an arsenal that can even come close to what the entire force that our brave men and women of our local law enforcement much less the arsenal available to the fine men and women of the US Military.
I served long enough to hear a bunch of bark about Civil War from civies and pencil pushers and discovered that it is all cowardly BS.
Note: There is something called a metaphor. A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that isn’t literally true, but helps explain an idea or make a comparison.
Here are the basics:
A metaphor states that one thing is another thing
It equates those two things not because they actually are the same, but for the sake of comparison or symbolism
If you take a metaphor literally, it will probably sound very strange (are there actually any sheep, black or otherwise, in your family?)
Metaphors are used in poetry, literature, and anytime someone wants to add some color to their language.
Thanks for the comment, and for making me realize my decision to align with the Navy was the correct one. Also, I would suggest reading Edward Snowden’s book “Permanent Record”, where he correctly states the new battleground is in the intellectual and intelligence arena. No physical weapons will be used in this conflict.
