The Classical Conversations homeschool program is almost halfway through the second semester and we have already accomplished so much!
This year the Foundations and Essential (elementary school) students have been practicing their public speaking skills during their presentation time, studying great artists plus visiting the Chrysler Museum, they continue to memorize a timeline that covers historical facts from creation until modern time. They have completed many science experiments and studied science facts, practiced math skills, and memorized English and Latin grammar work. Kids in 4th-6th grade have studied the components of essay writing by writing almost a paper a week all year, studied English grammar including sentence structure and diagramming, and played a lot of math games. They ended last semester with a Huge Medieval Feast to celebrate!
Challenge A students (7th and 8th grade) continue to learn to draw the world from memory, they are studying Latin and can now translate simple sentences, they just finished up Science Fair and are starting to study human anatomy by drawing and memorizing body systems. They are mastering the art of writing persuasive essays and they are reading classic Newberry Literature. They are studying logic by learning commonly used fallacies and they are looking forward to dissecting them later in the semester.
Jordan Dail is officially the Challenge B director for the 2023-2024 year and is excited to start accepting students for the 8th-9th grade Challenge B level.
Wendy Eder is returning as the Foundations and Essentials director for the 2023-2024 school year and is also accepting applications. She is the fundraising facilitator and can help anyone fundraise who needs help with tuition.
There are two open houses coming up for parents interested in learning more. This is a great opportunity to see Classical Conversations in action and ask questions before the semester ends.
