“This is getting ridiculous! Give the restaurants reduced capacity, so ” social distancing” can be employed, have servers wear masks, and whatever other strictures the media will endorse…but we have to get open SOON! As an industry we do not make money selling food, we need to sell alcohol. Losing May will be crushing, losing June will put the bulk of us here on The Shore out of business! We have 4 months to make an optimum profit, the September 1 the door is closing quickly! We have been here working diligently for almost 14 years and would like to be here for a few more! If you feel uncomfortable going out in public….stay home! If you are comfortable interacting with some new separation and medical restrictions we would welcome you! We need to get back to work….as soon as prudently possible!” Gene Kelly, Owner of Kelly’s Gingernut Pub
The Town has done its due diligence, now it is time to disregard the Governor’s arbitrary and capricious orders and open businesses on a limited basis.
We know that the virus is only dangerous to those over age 60, and mainly over 80. Why is the beach closed when there is virtually no risk? Is it constitutional for the Town to dictate what property owners can do with their property without an emergency justification?
The big lie being told to ordinary people is that these measures are meant to save lives. No, these measures are really about trading lives.
We voted these leaders into office, and when this is over, we will have to judge them on what they did. Did they take good counsel? Did they balance the needs of all citizens? Were they arbitrary or equitable in deciding which activities to prevent and which to allow? Did they take advantage of our vulnerability to take just a little more power for themselves?
The science doesn’t seem to line up with the tyranny that’s going on. Continued indiscriminate shutdowns are an abuse and don’t protect the public health.
“Most of the country is going to come through this with the realization we’re being treated like children … by people who want us to look at them as parents,” Rowe said during an interview with Glenn Beck on the Blaze.
“In an economy like this, when you take 26 million ‘nonessential’ workers out of the equation … the whole thing collapses under its own weight. I would suggest to you right now that there is no such thing as a nonessential worker when it comes to the economy” — Mike Rowe
Never in the history of America have we given up so much of our freedom. For the most part, we have done so willingly because we believed it was for our own good and for the good of the more vulnerable among us. Basically, we did this out of fear.
“If somebody wants to stay in their house, that’s great. They can stay in their house and they should not be compelled to leave. But to say that they cannot leave their house and they will be arrested if they do — this is fascist. This is not democratic. This is not freedom. Give people back their g—d— freedom.” — Elon Musk
Time to recalibrate. These people are our representatives, not our rulers.
If the Town does not stand up to the Governor and is willing to sacrifice the well-being of the citizens, we should expect resignations. What exactly are they here for?
With an election on May 19, I would point blank each candidate whether or not they would defy Governor and open up. Their response is the only one you will need to hear.
As Thomas Jefferson wrote to Edward Carrington on January 16, 1787, “The people are the only censors of their governors.” It is we the people who ultimately bear responsibility for how our leadership handles this crisis—that is what government by the people, for the people, and of the people means.
We must now defy the Governor’s Order and go back to work. We must fully understand the limited powers of our government officials. We must know our history well enough to understand why the Framers of the Constitution designed the government that they did.

“…We know that the virus is only dangerous to those over age 60…” Sorry, this is not true – and it’s misleading… 14% of deaths are from folks under 60 years old.

Recent results from a pilot testing program in nursing homes in southern New Jersey (3,700 test results, 16 long-term care facilities) showed an “astonishing” number of asymptomatic staff and residents in long-term care facilities tested positive for COVID-19.
Unless we have widespread testing or strict adherence to social distancing, disinfection protocols and personal protective equipment – asymptomatic persons will act as silent carriers of the disease, infecting others, including vulnerable persons. Here on the Eastern Shore, the only testing available is for frontline health care workers or persons who met the criteria – symptoms, known or suspected contact with an infected person and/or recent travel overseas.
Instead of ranting – how about a rational discussion about options to ease the impact and manage the risks of infections from asymptomatic persons?
Note: The rational discussion should have happened in February. Maybe it is a rant, but this country is at serious risk of collapse. Time to end it.

We need to open sooner than later. We promise to sanitize as much as possible and customers are free to distance themselves as well. The pub has separate dining areas which helps. I was a few days late paying the states sales and use tax this month and they added a $296 penalty and interest. We still had full time payroll to pay from March and of course the employees come first in my thinking. The town has been good about letting us wait on paying the meal tax. One night the police came by to check on our numbers by shining a spotlight into the pub….I am sorry but that just felt like scenes from Nazi Germany. Please tell me this was an accident because so far I feel you have been fair. We cannot help it if people walking dogs stop to talk to those waiting for take away orders, this is a social town. We have been reported twice by who knows who for non-compliance with the 10 or less. We have paid attention and even had to say something to a couple of customers. This is new to everyone so yes, there will be times when we will all have to step back and do what we feel is comfortable given the situation. We are adults aren’t we…then lets take it on to do this in phases at least. Colleen Kelley-Kelly’s Gingernut Pub

You are a numbskull, none of what you have shared here is factually true! People are dying – more than ever – and the deaths of many will be on your hands for spreading this foolishness. We need to support small businesses through means other than risking human lives.

Terry root says
You sir are a dumb ass
87 percent of deaths have been nursing home
All cases going in the hospital are told covid19 and no tests are being done to corroborate. don’t be a follower be a leader and don’t believe everything you hear.
tokenny says
And you sir are pulling things out of your ass.
“Nursing homes account for at least one-fifth of COVID-19 fatalities nationwide.” ABC News, NY Times, NPR. Even Fox News is reporting close to that.
Are you a Russian or Chinese troll?
Note: Faced with 20,000 coronavirus deaths, American nursing homes are pushing to get states to grant them emergency protection from lawsuits alleging inadequate care.
Paul Plante says
And you, sir, seem lost in space and oblivious to operative reality.
Look what you just posted, to wit: “Nursing homes account for at least one-fifth of COVID-19 fatalities nationwide.”
What do the words “account for AT LEAST one-fifth of COVID-19 fatalities” mean to you in the brand of pidgeon you think in?
“At Least” means a lower bound, does it not, which means in some places, which is how this has to be looked at, not some meaningless “national average,” the number of nursing home deaths can be much higher, and more specifically, we need to look at the percentage of people dying of COVID per nursing home, where they have been forced to take in people with COVID.
On April 22, 2020, for example, NPR was reporting that in NYC, the epicenter of COVID, as opposed to say, Duluth, or Boise, where you are drawing your figures from, NPR looked at 78 nursing homes in New York in which six or more residents have died of COVID-19, and in one facility alone, 55 people had died as of April 20, while ten others reported 30 or more deaths.
And then there is the New York Times article “The Coronavirus Is Killing Too Many Nursing Home Residents” by Tyson Belanger, who owns an assisted living center in Connecticut, on May 3, 2020, where we had as follows:
As of late April, more than two-thirds of nursing homes in Connecticut have had one or more residents with Covid-19.
Confirmed and probable nursing home deaths from the disease represented more than half of the state’s total number of Covid-19 deaths.
If we include assisted living homes like mine, the share of deaths in care homes for senior citizens is even higher.
end quotes
More than half in Connecticut, tokenny, which is considerably higher than your figure.
And then we had an article from WGRZ in Buffalo, New York entitled “State data shows elevated COVID-related deaths in Western New York nursing homes” by Steve Brown and Andy DeSantis published May 1, 2020, where we had as follows:
BUFFALO, N.Y. — “It is a big concern.”
“We are very worried.”
That’s what Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said Friday about the mounting deaths in Western New York nursing homes from COVID-related illness.
end quotes
Note the use of the term “mounting deaths,” tokenny – that is why your statistics really don’t mean much in here, because the rate is not constant, it is rising.
Getting back to that article:
New York State Health Department statistics through April 29 indicate statewide 3,688 nursing home residents died from coronavirus illness.
It makes up 20 percent of all COVID-death across the Empire State.
But in the eight counties of Western New York, the nursing home dead make up a much larger percentage of the reported area COVID-deaths.
The figure is 37 percent, almost twice the statewide average.
end quotes
But yes, tokenny, you are correct when you say the bulk of those deaths are happening in hospitals, which have been turned into HELL-HOLES up here to the north of you by Andy Cuomo and his lackey “health commissioner” Howie Zucker, now known as “Dr. Death,” where you are likely to end up as a science experiment before you are dead.
How many of those people are being killed as opposed to dying, tokenny?
How many of those people are being literally tortured before they die?
Consider the CBS New York article “Coronavirus Update: Gov. Cuomo Says Thousands Of New Hospital Beds Ready On Monday” on March 28, 2020, to wit:
If the state cannot get enough ventilators, Cuomo said medical staff would have to resort to bag valve masks that require someone to manually and continuously squeeze air into an infected patient’s lungs.
end quotes
Can you imagine that, tokenny – laying there in your last moments depending on somebody who likely doesn’t have any kind of training, maybe one of Andy Cuomo’s army of illegal alien supporters, since Andy reduced the standards for who can now deliver your health care in one of his HELL-HOLES, hoping and prating that that person’s hand doesn’t get tired, or they get bored from standing there all day squeezing on the bulb to push some more air down into your lungs?
How much more third-world can you get than that, tokenny?
And then we have this from that same article, to wit:
Other medical measures being taken in New York State include testing the use of hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax to slow the effects of COVID-19 in patients.
end quotes
How many people are dying because that hydroxychloroquine Andy Cuomo and “Dr. Death” are pushing on people stopped their heart, which it is famous for doing, if you bother to research the subject, and have you checked out the side effects for that ****?
Consider the New York Post article on that subject by Jackie Salo on April 21, 2020, where we had as follows:
Hydroxychloroquine proved to be no better than standard care among more than 300 male patients at Veterans Health Administration medical centers across the nation, according to a report on pre-publication server medRix.
“Specifically, hydroxychloroquine use with or without co-administration of azithromycin did not improve mortality or reduce the need for mechanical ventilation in hospitalized patients,” researchers wrote.
“On the contrary, hydroxychloroquine use alone was associated with an increased risk of mortality compared to standard care alone.”
end quotes
That doesn’t stop Andy and “Dr. Death” from pushing the ****, however.
Or the article in The Hill entitled “Largest analysis of hydroxychloroquine use finds no benefit for coronavirus, increased deaths” by Nathaniel Weixel on 04/21/20, where we have, to wit:
The analysis found the two primary outcomes for COVID-19 patients treated with hydroxychloroquine were death and the need for mechanical ventilation.
The authors noted that hydroxychloroquine, with or without azithromycin, was more likely to be prescribed to patients with more severe disease, so increased mortality was to be expected.
But the authors said high mortality rates in the hydroxychloroquine-only group persisted even after adjusting for that fact.
The researchers noted that use of hydroxychloroquine by itself did not have an impact on the need for mechanical ventilation.
They noted that death might be attributable to the drug’s effects on non-respiratory vital organs.
The side effect of hydroxychloroquine are well known, including the possibility of heart problems.
end quotes
How many people have died because of Andy Cuomo and “Dr. Death” pumping that **** into their veins as a science experiment?
Imagine yourself laying there, tokenny, and a team of Andy’s doctors are standing over you, talking among themselves as to how much of that **** to pump into you to see what happens, and they dose you up with a bit too much, and you realize you have just been screwed as the **** stops your heart?
How would that make you feel?
And then there is the KATU article “More deaths, no benefit from malaria drug in VA virus study” by Marilynn Marchione, AP Chief Medical Writer, on April 21st 2020, to wit:
Researchers did not track side effects, but noted hints that hydroxychloroquine might have damaged other organs.
The drug has long been known to have potentially serious side effects, including altering the heartbeat in a way that could lead to sudden death.
end quotes
How many people did Andy kill with that **** who otherwise might not have died?
And then there is the FOX article “Cuomo Says Downstate Patients Could Be Transported To Upstate Hospitals Amid Coronavirus Outbreak” by Amy Hogan on March 26, 2020, to wit:
Some patients now on ventilators 20 to 30 days
end quotes
Do you understand what that is saying there, tokenny?

So, you are right, tokenny, more people right now are likely being killed in Andy Cuomo’s HELL-HOLE HOSPITALS, where you will spend your last days as a science experiment, than are dying so far in the nursing homes, although Andy is trying to make the nursing home body count from COVID higher by filling them with COVID patients to insure the spread.
And thanks for bringing all of that to our attention, so we are now aware of just what a nightmare it would be to be an older person like myself spending your last days in one of those places?

2,107 words in response to my statement and after writing all that I actually agree with you … on the definition of “at least”.
Dontcha think that if it was closer to 89% they would have used a higher number than 1/5? but you know that! You just needed a place to paste all that other chit you wrote.
What does you rant have to do with this topic? We know – nothing!
If I want to know about NY, I’ll find a blog written on that topic.
And please, before you even think I read more that the first paragraph and the 1st sentence in the next … I didn’t. It actually took me “at least” 10 seconds to scroll down to the bottom.
Paul, we won’t be going back and forth on this. I’m done
Paul Plante says
tokenny, dude, why is it always about you?
And why the need for all the drama?
I actually agreed with you that the 89% number is not supported by the evidence I put forth to support not only my position, but by extension, yours, as well, and my goodness, look at the histrionics that resulted!
And silver-tongued devil that you are, look how droll you are as well with this gem of what we people up here in the wilds of New York now call “tokenny-isms,” to wit: “If I want to know about NY, I’ll find a blog written on that topic.”
Well, quess what, dude, if you scroll down to the middle of the page, you will find just such a blog expertly written on the subject, to wit:
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo required Nursing Homes to accept coronavirus patients
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing rising criticism over a controversial directive in March requiring the state’s nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients from hospitals, when few had the equipment or training to deal with those patients. The directive, dated March 25, stated (original emphasis): “No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the NH […]

But you already knew that, and you’re just having some fun with us at our expense, which we’re cool with, tokenny – you remind people of a sort of internet version of the comedian Don Rickles, which is meant as a complement to yourself, of course, given that he was a television regular for more years than I can remember.
And with your skillful and quite elegant repartee in here, you have managed to tie the two threads together, as they should be, so that the candid world can have a first-hand look at what is happening in the world around them where old people in nursing homes are dying in droves while they remain locked in their basements, and the grateful nation thanks you for your courage in making that fact known to the people of America and the world who rely on the Cape Charles Mirror for an uncensored view of the reality going on in the world right now – you are a real American patriot and hero for that, tokenny, and may your name be esteemed in the nation forevermore in thankfulness.
Paul Plante says
Hey, Josh A, dude, long time no see, say, where at you been these last months, anyway, dude – laying low over in the Blue Ridge Mountains, somewhere, wearing a mask, regardless, just in case a badger up there might have COVID?
And dude, let me say as a fair and impartial line judge, so to speak, to put it into tennis terminology to show I’m not biased towards one party on one side, of the net, or another party on the other side of the net, my job is to fairly call the balls and strikes, and that is what I am doing here when I call you three strikes and out with respect to your exclamation or ejaculation above here, to wit: You are a numbskull, none of what you have shared here is factually true!
Great line, great delivery, con brio some other on-line judges of internet communicating style have opined, but in the end, the numbskull in a classic turnaround from Victorian literature ends up being you, because so much of the opening sentence in the OP is true, not false, to wit:
“… now it is time to disregard the Governor’s arbitrary and capricious orders and open businesses on a limited basis.”
Constitutionally speaking, “‘Ol Blackface’s” orders are based on pixie dust that came out of his nether region on one dark and stormy night, and he took it that that was a sign that he had just been anointed to not any longer be the mere governor of the Commonwealth, but instead, like Augustus, the divine first emporer of Rome, to become its god and divine ruler, and now he issues orders and decrees and edicts as if he actually were one, which is great drama for us old folks imprisoned in our home by order of Der Fuerher Cuomo, to watch raptly unfold like some weird but on-going soap opera, which is to say, if they ever were taken to court, they couldn’t stand, because they are based on Virginia law regarding DISASTERS, and there is no disaster in the Commonwealth generally, and Cape Charles, specifically that “Blackface” Northam can point to that existed BEFORE he issued his disaster declaration, which in turn has and is creating a real disaster in the lives of ordinary Virginians, which can only rationally be called the acts of a madman – to willy-nilly destroy the lives of millions of people like tearing the wings off flies.
Thankfully, and this is for your sake, the Cape Charles Mirror has the courage and gumption and grit to stand up to this BULL**** and rip the cover off to show the candid world just what exactly is going on in this part of the world.
RAKE THE MUCK RIGHT DOWN TO THE BEDROCK, AND THEN SOME!
Ray Otton says
Paul, just an observation.
The last sentence in your posts are usually damn good.
Why not skip the drivel that NO ONE is reading and just get to the bottom line?
Sorin Varzaru says
>Why not skip the drivel that NO ONE is reading and just get to the bottom line?
One of those rare instances where Ray and I are on the same page…
Paul Plante says
You and Ray are on a page that only TWO PERCENT of the readers of the Cape Charles Mirror are on, which is a considerable achievement on both of your parts, which merits both of you a gold star on your homework assignment and a hearty well done.
How is it that you both became so far separated from what the mainstream, more rational and less emotional segment of the population in America is thinking?
Paul Plante says
I had my people do an on-line survey this morning of all known Cape Charles Mirror readers, and what they found was that 98% of the readers of the Cape Charles Mirror who read my posts read them from top to bottom, often more than once, in fact.
That makes you a Two-Percenter.
Accordingly, to appease the Two-Percent at the expense of the Ninety-Eight percent by changing my writing style to suit the whims of the Two-Percent seems quite undemocratic to me, don’t you think?
Ray Otton says
Much better post.
Complete bullshit, but nice and short.
Keep it up.
A friend says
Paul,
My B.S. meter pegged off the chart while reading this submission!
Paul Plante says
Have you had it checked lately and calibrated?
It sounds a lot like you have a fried diode in there, to be truthful, and since you have the older model, I’m not sure that you can find a replacement now, especially as your model was the one made in China that Trump then put his tariffs on, which caused it to be discontinued.
And from a psycho-social standpoint, don’t you find it interesting how people like Sorin and Josh A. are so ready to strip the people of Virginia of their rights pursuant to the Bill of Rights of the Virginia Constitution so they can feel “safe?”
I do, anyway.
They remind me of the “Good Germans” who didn’t say a word in 1933 when Hitler stripped them of their Constitutional rights to make them feel safe.
My kindergarten teacher told me I would see people like Sorin and Josh A. in the country before I was dead, people wanting a kind master instead of liberty.
How right she was.
Paul Plante says
But you are quite correct, A friend, whether your BS meter is functioning properly or not, that when Ray Otton says he knows definitively what each and every reader of the Cape Charles Mirror reads or doesn’t read, he is merely spewing ignorant BULL****, because unless he is going to claim to be some kind of mystic or clairvoyant here who can and does read minds, so that he knows what we are all thinking each and every moment of the day, he hasn’t a clue as to what anybody else is reading or thinking, but let’s face it, the dude is old, and his mind is prone to wander and drift, and it is for that reason that we compassionate people in here cut him some slack and respond by simply saying, “Okay, Ray, whatever you say,” because it is the charitable thing to do.
Nioaka Marshall says
I read everything. If not, you may miss a key portion and miss the whole point. I have found that sometimes one or two words can change an entire idea. I sure hope these folks didn’t study this way in school. I guess that is one of the components of what is wrong with the education system in America.
Paul Plante says
Amen, Nioaka Marshall.
A friend says
Paul,
I agree that Sorin and Josh A. are part of the “Marching Moron Brigade”, I just have a bit of doubt about:
“I had my people do an on-line survey this morning of all known Cape Charles Mirror readers…”
Actually, I believe you have a very firm grasp and understanding of the current political and social milieu in America. You are a wise man Paul, but need to remember–“Advice (passing on of sage knowledge): The wise don’t need it, and fools won’t heed it…”
Sorin and Josh A. are among such fools…
Paul Plante says
And if we stay silent because we believe that all the multitudes are empty-headed ignorant fools who are incapable of assimilation of new thoughts or new ideas, then in turn we make fools of ourselves and do the candid world a huge disservice.
Just a thought, anyway, in passing.
And obviously, I was being as facetious as I could possibly be with that statement, which is exactly as true as Ray Otton’s claim that he knows definitively that NO ONE reads my posts.
And I cut Sorin a lot of slack as well, because he grew up in a repressive Eastern European ****hole where thinking for yourself and standing out were forbidden by the society in the ****hole, so Sorin never learned to think, and he never therefore built up the mental machinery that has to be kept well-oiled to keep one’s brain from rotting to a mush as one gets older.
If in the end Sorin does not want to get out of the comfort zone Andy Cuomo and “Blackface” Northam have created for him with their imposition of a police state on us, such it will be, but because his mental machinery is quite flaccid and weak, I don’t think we should ignore trying to help him along as good American citizens would do to a newcomer on our shores from a repressive Eastern European ****hole.
As to Josh A, his mind seems paralyzed by fear.
And the irony is, by being afraid all the time, all he succeeds in doing is weakening his own immune system precisely as a time when it needs boosting instead, and thus making himself more susceptible to COVID.
Seems silly to me, but hey, DARWINISM still rules, and what in the end will be, will be.
Ray Otton says
“but let’s face it, the dude is old, and his mind is prone to wander and drift, and it is for that reason that we compassionate people in here cut him some slack and respond by simply saying, “Okay, Ray, whatever you say,” because it is the charitable thing to do.”
Ageism is an ugly thing, even when practiced by old farts.
Paul Plante says
Ray, dude, listen, it’s alright that you are old.
I think I am speaking for the vast majority of the rational readers of the Cape Charles Mirror when I say we all love you just the same, with some even finding you sort of cuddly in a curmudgeonly way, which is to say that we who love you as you are hold no prejudice towards you because of your age, God forbid, we are a compassionate and civilized people, afterall, nor is anyone even contemplating discriminating against you on the grounds of your advanced age, let alone doing it in here, as that would be below the editorial standards of the Cape Charles Mirror to allow a defenseless old man such as yourself to be kicked around in here mercilessly by younger people, and thank God for that say I, another older person in here like yourself.
Perhaps the solitary confinement is getting to you, that forced separation from humanity imposed on you by “Blackface” Northam because of some kind of disaster, a meteor strike some said, or maybe it was a volcano over in the Blue Ridge Mountains, that now has you socially disconnected so that you are getting a bit paranoid, which has me saying back, Ray, look, dude, don’t despair!
You’re not really alone, because let me assure you, we are all in this together!
Paul Plante says
Say hey, Josh A, and what it is, dude!
And getting back to the fact that you are the numbskull in here right now, this statement from the OP is quite true, as well, whether or not you are aware of it, which apparently you are not due to some type of deficiency in your early education:
It is we the people who ultimately bear responsibility for how our leadership handles this crisis — that is what government by the people, for the people, and of the people means.

Instead of berating the Cape Charles Mirror for tugging on the corners of your comfort blanket where you want to believe that “Blackface” Northam loves you and holds you dear, and would do nothing to harm you, and everything to help you, out of the love he holds for you in his heart, which is an all-encompassing love, what you should instead be doing is DEMANDING as accounting from “Blackface” as to exactly what transpired in the Commonwealth after 8 January 2020 when the CDC sent this following ALERT to state and local health officers, state and local epidemiologists, state and local laboratory directors, public information officers, HAN coordinators, and clinician organizations, which would have included not only the Commonwealth’s health commissioner, but the Eastern Shore Health District as well, which recently was reporting two more deaths of Eastern Shore residents, to wit:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This is an official CDC Health Advisory
Distributed via the CDC Health Alert Network
January 8, 2020, 1615 ET (04:15 PM ET)

Summary
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring a reported cluster of pneumonia of unknown etiology (PUE) with possible epidemiologic links to a large wholesale fish and live animal market in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.
An outbreak investigation by local officials is ongoing in China; the World Health Organization (WHO) is the lead international public health agency.
Currently, there are no known U.S. cases nor have cases been reported in countries other than China.
CDC has established an Incident Management Structure to optimize domestic and international coordination if additional public health actions are required.
end quotes
Study that last sentence for a few moments, Josh A., and in your mind, try to fathom what it means when it says “CDC has established an Incident Management Structure to optimize domestic coordination if additional public health actions are required.”
Was that in fact ever done?
Was the Commonwealth included in that Incident Management Structure to optimize domestic public health actions related to COVID?
Instead of calling Wayne Creed a numbskull, why instead aren’t you demanding that “Blackface” Northam present the citizens of the Commonwealth with a detailed timeline or chronology of each and every step that was taken with regard to that Alert by the Commonwealth after 8 January 2020, and each decision made, and by whom, which takes us to the article about Eastern Shore deaths, to wit:
“We are incredibly sad to hear of the passing of two members of our Eastern Shore family.”
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families,” said Chief Operating Officer, Jon Richardson.
“We have seen a significant increase in our case count over the past week.”
“Many of those cases are associated with outbreaks which are currently under investigation.”

That was on April 26, 2020, which is ONE HUNDRED NINE (109) days AFTER the 8 January 2020 CDC Alert.
What happened during the 109 day period?
Or do you want that HUSHED UP and covered over and whitewashed?
As to the truthfulness of statements made in the OP concerning the relationship between the citizens of the Commonwealth and government in the Commonwealth, consider the following:
Virginia Constitution
Article I. Bill of Rights
Section 2. People the source of power
That all power is vested in, and consequently derived from, the people, that magistrates are their trustees and servants, and at all times amenable to them.

Do you disbelieve that?
Do you deny that?
Peter Simpson says
Wayne,
This morning my neighbor was on the beach with her two young daughters who were running around and this transpired, “We were at the beach and got told children running around does not count as “exercise “ and had to leave 😕.” Children running around sounds like exercise to me!!!
Note: Thanks for sharing. Never thought I would ever see anything like this. No one gets COVID at the beach. They close beaches to flex and punish disobedience.
brandtrader says
Only the ones that think they are entitled want to open up. We are all on the same team…be a team player.
Colleen Kelley says
Excuse me .….entitled? I have worked my ass off and never ever considered that being entitled to try to save jobs and business. We have employees trying to pay rent and the other important thing…eat! Entitled????? Really?
Note: These people are total scum. How does Cape Charles attract so many?
Ray Otton says
Team players?
If we WERE a nation of team players Congress would have given up their salaries when they went home.
In fact, there’s a definite tier system now in play in the US. Those who’s jobs were deemed “non-essential” ( as if any job were non-essential to the job holder) are those least able to absorb the financial hit while those who instituted the draconian stay at home rules………………..are still collecting paychecks.
So please, no more laying on of the “we all in this together” BS.
Slide Easy says
“we all in this together” another liberal mantra, much like when michelle ‘Big Mike’ obama held up that ignorant sign that said ‘free our girl’ after they had been kidnapped by Muslim Terrorist.
Gene Kelly says
If we don’t open up soon…Mason Ave. will look like it did when we got here in 1995! Watson’s Hardware, Savage’s Drug Store and every other storefront boarded up!
brandtrader says
Sweet
Gene Kelly says
I always like people that post via pseudonym..it translates to “No Balls”
Sam Pruitt says
So if it posted it’s real name, what are you going to do?
Slide Easy says
You called his bluff.
Frank Parks says
So what were you going to do if they posted their name? I have never seen a grown man searching for balls(testicles) in silly online post before, not a straight one anyway.
RICK says
Sounds like you have a KARMA DEBIT not yet paid. Also thanks for saving CC with a dive bar.
Stuart Bell says
Wow! That would be Sweet! I posted my name for you. Big balls and a Hard head.
george says
I think brandtrader might secretly be Joan Natalie.
A friend says
You may be right George!
Lord save us from these “Non-clotting Bleeding Heart Liberals”!
I suspect they suffer from the fear of going to Hell for their sinful lives…
