DEQ to hold Informational Briefing April 30th

April 28, 2019 by Wayne Creed Leave a Comment

DEQ has prepared 54 draft groundwater withdrawal permits for poultry facilities currently operating under Consent Special Orders in Accomack County, Virginia.

An informational briefing on the draft permits and the permitting process will be held in Accomack on April 30, 2019 at Nandua High School (26350 Lankford Highway, Onley, Virginia 23418) from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
DEQ will present an overview on recent groundwater withdrawal activity on the Eastern Shore.

DEQ staff will also discuss how permit applications are evaluated, the results of the evaluations, what is included in a groundwater permit, and the next steps in the process.

After the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions. Questions and comments made during this informational briefing will not be part of the official public comment record. However, a public comment period for each draft permit will be initiated at a specified time.

More details concerning the public comment period, as well as upcoming public hearings on the draft permits, will be provided at the Public Information Briefing.

Questions regarding the informational briefing should be directed to Mr. Joseph Grist at Joseph.Grist@deq.virginia.gov or at P.O. Box 1105, Richmond, Virginia, 23218.
