2017 Clean Water Farm Award Grand Basin Winners
The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation sponsors the Clean Water Farm Award and the Bay Friendly Farm Award. Virginia farmers who implement conservation plans and are doing their part to preserve water quality.
Farmers spend time, energy and hard-earned money carrying out conservation practices, but others also benefit from their treatment of the land. When nutrients, pesticides and chemicals are kept out of local waterways, quality of life is maintained – and even improved.
The following farmers and farm owners are recipients of the Virginia Grand Basin Clean Water Farm Award. As part of their recognition, they received a sign to post on their farm, as well as a certificate. The awards were handed out on Dec. 4 at the annual meeting of the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Portsmouth.
