Eastern Shore Opens Fiber to the Home Broadband Service for Atlantic, Wattsville, and Horntown Locations

April 1, 2018 by 1 Comment

EXMORE, VA. (March 27, 2018) — The Eastern Shore of Virginia Broadband Authority (ESVBA) has opened Fiber to the Home service in the communities of Atlantic, Wattsville and Horntown, VA. These three communities are the latest locations to begin receiving high-speed fiber optic connectivity services since the ESVBA announced of a community-wide Fiber to the Home (FTTH) expansion in December 2017.

“We’re extremely excited about being able to offer Fiber to the Home (FTTH) to these areas of Accomack County. Faster more reliable, fiber-based Internet services will enable residents to access and enjoy a wide variety of modern conveniences including telework, telehealth, and streaming entertainment,” Executive Director Robert Bridgham said.

Residents may begin signing up for high-speed FTTH internet services today for as little as $39.99 per month by contacting ESVBA Residential Support at 757-709-7080.

The FTTH project was first piloted in September 2016 in Harborton, Virginia. Now more than 20% of the homes there have signed-up for the ESVBA’s FTTH product. Based on this early program success, the ESVBA’s Board of Directors voted in November 2018 to expand the program to more communities across Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The ESVBA plans to open several more communities in the next three months as they work towards their goal of offering fiber optic broadband service to homes in areas previously unserved or underserved.

A list of the 11 other FTTH communities on Virginia’s Eastern Shore is available on ESVBA.com and will be continually updated as service expands.

When is this opportunity going to be available for Cape Charles? I have outages on a regular basis and can’t wait to get a fast, dependable, internet service!!
