Easy water testing kits available through Virginia Cooperative Extension

Water testing kits are available to everyone in Northampton and Accomack counties. Requires only to sign up with VaTech and a $10 fee, then when registered, pick up collection containers at VaTech Research Facility in Painter, follow simple instructions for collecting your sample, then returning it.

How does it work?
1. At a brief informational meeting, pick up a sample kit and get instructions on how
to collect your household water sample.
2. Collect a sample from your tap at home and complete a short questionnaire.
3. Drop off sample at a local designated place and time.
4. About 4 weeks later, receive your confidential test results, an explanation of what the numbers mean, and information about how to handle any problems that are present.

What does the water test include?
-Iron Manganese Sulfate Hardness
-Sodium Copper Nitrate Arsenic
-Fluoride pH Total Dissolved Solids
-Coliform bacteria E. coli bacteria Lead
