May 20, 2018 by Leave a Comment

EXMORE:  To celebrate the official arrival of summer and to kick off a full calendar of activities in the Exmore Town Park, Mayor Doug Greer and the Town of Exmore are launching the first Annual Exmore Town Social on Wednesday evening June 20, from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Exmore Town Park.

Presented In the spirit of old fashioned “town socials”, the evening will feature entertainment, multi-generational games such as Corn Hole, food vendors and surprises for the kids with live music headlined by the popular HM Johnson Band who will take the stage at 7 p.m.A local group will open.

The casual, well-lit atmosphere of the spacious Exmore Town Park offers plenty of room for families to set up lawn chairs or put down blankets for picnicking and listening, with a lighted playground where children can play safely while adults enjoy the concert. “The evening will be a good time for all ages,” said Mayor Greer. “It’s an ideal way to mingle with friends and meet new neighbors. It’s family friendly, and it’s free.”

The first day of summer is June 21, with the Summer Solstice, falling on that same date. The solstice is not a fixed day on the calendar and can occur on June 20th or June 21st depending on when the sun reaches its northernmost distance from the Equator. “The Exmore Town Social is a symbolic welcome to the summer months ahead, and the anticipation of relaxation,” said Mayor Greer. “The children are out of school, people want to be outside more, and the tourism season is underway.”

Although the event is a way for the Town to say “Thank You” to Exmore residents and business owners, the Community Social is open to the entire ESVA. “Everyone is invited. There’s plenty of free parking, both at the Town Park and along Bright Street. Come early and explore Exmore’s restaurants and downtown business district,” Greer added. “We want this to become an annual tradition for the Town and for Northampton County.”
