The Nature Conservancy invites you to join this free, hands-on workshops where we will demonstrate and explore the interactive, online Virginia Eastern Shore Coastal Resilience tool (http://www.coastalresilience.org/virginia) .
Wednesday, March 7th, 5:00-8:30 pm at Kiptopeke E.S. (registration required, as space is limited)
Please contact Margaret Van Clief at mvanclief@tnc.org or (757) 414-9227 to register.
This tool was designed to meet local community needs with regards to visualizing and assessing local vulnerabilities to storm surge, sea-level rise, and changes to coastal habitats. The workshops will consist of hands-on, structured exercises led by a team of experts that have been working diligently to build this customized tool and apps to meet the needs of stakeholders, community leaders, and educators over the past three years.
Participants will receive an introduction to the Eastern Shore Coastal Resilience project and training for how to use the Coastal Resilience online mapping tool (http://maps.coastalresilience.org/virginia/) which includes five apps (Regional Planning, Flood & Sea Level Rise, Living Shorelines, Future Habitat, and Coastline Change) that can be used independently or in combination. The Cape Charles session will focus particularly on the Future Habitat app and the Flood & Sea Level Rise app, as well as an overview of all parts of the tool.
Our community’s partnership, participation, and use of this project are critical to ensure that the Coastal Resilience tool benefits Eastern Shore communities and local governments. Please plan to attend and learn how to use this important tool and provide your feedback.
To register for this free, public workshop, please contact Margaret Van Clief at mvanclief@tnc.org or (757) 414-9227. Registration is required, as space is limited.
