During Executive Session, Town Council met with business entities which are interested in starting a brew pub at location in Cape Charles. Details are sketchy (cannot confirm contracts, sale, entity, etc.); however the operation is looking at 200,000 gallons of water use per year. As always, there are hurdles. There currently is not a ‘Brew Pub’ use in the current zoning ordinance, and for this type of operation, the parcel would have to be rezoned industrial, unless the operation is more ‘Pub’ serving food and beverage than it is actually ‘brewing’.
Water and sewer hookups may also prove problematic. Water is closer, but will require connection. Sewer, even further, will also require connections.
The Mirror will provide more details as they become available.
