Photographer Jim Baugh was able to capture the perfect shot for Easter, this a time-lapse image of Red Bank.
From Jim, “Red Bank was one of the four locations I found to be a dark sky site on the Eastern Shore and the time-lapse of the Milky Way at Red Bank we filmed was the closing sequence in my film “The Milky Way Galaxy Our Home” As seen from the Eastern Shore. The film is still playing in film festivals across the country and has garnished 4 awards.
The Red Bank location is a special one, the scenery is fantastic and was able to film a lot of drone footage over the area for the film. The place is gorgeous. My mother passed earlier, and I spread her ashes right under that cross. She has now one of the best views for eternity!
This Filming of the Milky Way at Red Bank was shot on 6/13/2020. There was only a 3-hour window before the moon rise and the sky was about the clearest, I have ever seen. I was setting up taking test shots for mostly the horizon and on the first test shot I saw the Milky Way just peeping over the top of a low-level cloud bank over the Atlantic, thought it was amazing, gave me chills. So hurriedly got the right position with the ball head and fired off the first 5-minute exposure hoping the cloud bank would not move to much. Was able to capture 3 exposures at 5 minute each so this image is a total of 15 minutes exposure. Then a few more clouds then fired off a 10-minute exposure. It truly was one of the nicest nights I have seen that I can remember.
To see all of my nightscapes check this link, we have just put up a new one “Canoe Moon” that is something to see.”

I’ll bet it looked just fine to the naked eye that beautiful night, without fancy filters and computer programs to ‘clean it up’.
All smoke and mirrors.
