Booking a slip at the Cape Charles Harbor just got easier for boaters traveling to the lower Chesapeake Bay. Dockwa, an award-winning unified booking and marketing platform that greatly simplifies the transient slip booking process, has created a new site, www.capecharlesharbor.com that now allows boaters to find and book a slip with just a few taps on the Dockwa app – a seamless and secure process that streamlines communication and payment via an innovative digital platform that no longer requires reservations via email or phone.
The Dockwa site and integration was funded by a Harbor Advertising Grant (Boating Infrastructure Grant). The grant paid for the initial site development and first year of maintenance. According to the town, this allowed the Harbor to take advantage of DOCKWA’s professional marketing services to have the website created and to fund the first year of service at $1,600 total. The annual charge is $600. Town Council will have to decide whether or not to keep this website service during the FY 2018 budget process.
In the future, if approved, it will be added to the Harbor budget.
According to the town, DOCKWA offers a professional marina booking service. They supply advertising and reservation management services at their own website for the Town free of charge, giving the Town a page listing services and amenities offered. The consumer pays a small surcharge for booking. It was advantageous to use them as the new website links directly to the booking function. The link to the Dockwa website from the Town website should be up in April. There will also be a link to a live “Harborcam,” via the Harbor’s security camera system. The security system was paid for with the same Boating Infrastructure Grant.
Linking to the CapeCharlesbytheBay website is being researched.

Can we update the pictures to include the entire town harbor?
