The folks at the Northampton County Education Foundation are asking for support to help finalize details for the upcoming marching band season. The band hopes to compete for the first time in over 11 years and participate in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association State Assessment.
The primary funds of this project go towards outfitting our color guard section of the marching band which has grown to nearly triple its size in over two years. This will help provide these students finally with a formal uniform and new equipment to help them be successful. The remaining funds help secure music that the students have chosen and rights for the year as well as help deep clean our formal marching band uniforms and create a new parade banner for our ensemble.
This project will help benefit our 43 members of the Northampton Marching Band which range from grades 8th-12th grade as they prepare for the 2021-2022 season. Our color guard section benefits from this project by obtaining a formal uniform and new equipment for games, parades, and competitions setting them up to be more successful and have more confidence when a performance arises. Securing the music and rights to perform a halftime/competition show helps the band members meet VA SOL Music Performance Standards and participate in the VBODA State Assessment.
