Judge Rules in favor of HRSD

October 4, 2020 by Wayne Creed 2 Comments

Judge Lewis of the Northampton Circuit Court ruled this week to allow Northampton to join the Hampton Roads Sanitation District. HRSD provides service to 18 cities and counties of southeast Virginia, with a population of 1.7 million. They operate nine major treatment plants and seven smaller plants in eastern Virginia, with a combined treatment capacity of 249 million gallons per day.

The county is now free to begin negotiations to build a pipeline that will initially run from Nassawaddox to Exmore, and eventually to Onancock and the Accomack County Government facilities.

GET READY FOR MORE TAX INCREASES AND NO ADDITIONAL SERVICE FOR CAPE CHARLES! NOTE THAT ALL OF THE CONSTRUCTION FOR THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT IS TO THE NORTH OF THE COUNTY. NOTHING FOR CAPE CHARLES.

Judge Lewis is the judge of the Circuit Court not the District court.

Note: Thanks so much for the correction!
