The following letter is submitted by Ken Dufty of Wardtown
I am writing on behalf of my family and the many people who have contacted us suggesting that we send a note of thanks for your work on the 2040 Comprehensive Plan and most notably your actions on behalf of your constituents during your June 8, 2021 monthly Board of Supervisors meeting.
There was an audible and measurable collective sigh of relief when your quorum on that night voted to remove the Working Waterfront Development Area wording from the body of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan, as well as the restoration of the mobile/manufactured home language that is in our current 2009 Northampton County Comprehensive Plan. A special thanks regarding the latter action to District 4 Supervisor John Coker.
We are fully aware that comprehensive plans have little practical weight until the Northampton County Planning Commission develops and submits for your consideration a new Zoning Ordinance that has its foundation and substance recommendations contained in a new or updated plan. As an added note regarding the restoration of the mobile home language in the new plan, we are hopeful that during that process the Planning Commission also restores a mobile home overlay district which will ensure that citizens in Northampton County are able to retain this affordable housing option for many years into the future.
We are looking forward to being involved in that necessary next-step of implementation of the new Northampton County 2040 Comprehensive Plan and vision goals and are appreciative that we will have that opportunity.
Thank you again for your tireless work on our behalf, both on this issue and the many, many more that you manage regularly on our behalf.
