MIKE RABDAU has been drawn to the community of Cape Charles for over 20 years when he first began visiting his sister-in-law, Ann Hayward Walker, a long-time resident. His initial reaction was “no way!” but, as he watched the town transform from dilapidated neglect to a lovely tranquil community, he grew more and more interested.
Mike moved into his new home at 128 Peach Street at the end of August. Having been born and raised in Tacoma, WA, Mike has lived in New York, Boston, Richmond, DC and Snug Harbor, MD. A graduate of VCU, Mike recently retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs where he worked as a liaison for the last 16 years.
The father of three girls, he has watched them grow into exciting young women. One of his daughters, Kyber, was a partner in the JumJum summer food truck that some of us will recall from the tiki-bar deck on Mason Ave. Mike’s interests include tennis (taken up again as a once-a-week routine), golf, bike riding, painting, drawing and writing. Let’s all keep our eyes out around town for Mike who, it’s reported, was spotted flatfooting recently at the Lemon Tree Gallery. Who knows where this will lead!
Welcome to our town, Mike, which is now yours to enjoy every day – not just as a get-away destination.
