If you really want to know what’s going on in a political campaign, a look into the contributions to each candidate can shed some light. Contributing to the candidate of your choice is a part of democracy. However, knowing who or where those contributions come from can provide some insight into the political landscape and the agendas involved.
Below are snapshots from data collected by Virginia Public Access Project, broken out state by state:
Phil Hernandez, 50% of his donations come from out of state:
Donations from Virginia $253,778 (50%)
Donations from Washington, DC $111,743 (22%)
Donations from other states $139,466 (28%)
Rob Bloxom, 96% of his donations come from Virginia:
Donations from Virginia $146,557 (96%)
Donations from Washington, DC $764 (1%)
Donations from other states $4,900 (3%)
Hank Mayer says
The largest out of state donors are the urban centers of the rising extreme liberal/socialist Democratic agenda. Their goal is for Hernandez to push for those programs in our State legislature.
Dave says
The Shore needs Bloxom not the Socialist Democrat who is bought and paid for by out of state money.
Eddie says
Bloxom is bought and paid for by special interests outside of the district. Look it up.
Eddie says
Wayne, maybe you should dig a little deeper.
The VAST majority of Bloxom’s money comes from special interests outside of the district. Just this cycle, his top donors are:
$55,000 — Knight for Delegate – Barry D
$29,210 — House Republican Campaign Committee
$10,000 — Republican State Leadership Committee
$6,622 — Va Auto Dealers Assn
That’s over $100k of special interest money that is coming from outside the district, well over TWO THIRDS of his total from just those 4 donors. And that’s not even counting the numerous smaller donations from special interests and corporations outside of the district.
But given your recent reporting, it’s clear you knew that already and are just a shill for Bloxom.
We see you.
Ray Otton says
And we see you too.
Today’s Democratic Party is now the party of leftist extremism, radical to the point of insanity. Ironically, they are the modern day NAZI’s with their hate filled racist propaganda that demonizes opposing views and opinions.
Think I’m making an overblown case?
They booed the POTUS while he was enjoying America’s pastime, the day after a great Amoerican military victory.
They assault people wearing red hats as if it’s justice
They want the president’s son molested by pedophiles.
They want to ban certain words and make other words mandatory.
They want us to believe the world is ending in 12 years, errr, 10 years, errr no, 18 months because Americans are doing things like living and breathing.
They want drag queens at story hour but want to ban God at school.
They endorse assaulting journalists whom they think are covering the “wrong” stories.
They harass non-liberal public figures when they’re at the store or out with their families.
They want to be able to abort a baby right up until the moment it exits the birth canal AND call it “compassion”.
They want all of America to look to the cesspit of California as an example of the progressive paradise.
They want to cancel people’s livelihoods and social status for tweets they sent out at 16 years old.
They want to end the career of ANYONE who doesn’t toe the liberal line on anything from education to protecting the border.
They want to take away our civil right to own a firearm even though Americans use them to protect themselves from criminals roughly 2 million times a year.
They want MASSIVE increases in middle class taxes to pay for all the free sh*t they’re promising.
They want to do away with all private health insurance.
They want to confiscate the most popular hunting rifle in American because it looks mean.
So putting aside where the candidates money comes from, tell us why on EARTH would we should vote for any of these candidates this year and again in 2020?
No, seriously, why?
Eddie says
LOL, way to try to dodge the issue and the uncomfortable truth of Bloxom’s money with the Fox News Greatest Hits.
If I only ever watched Fox News and other right wing bubble conspiracy media, I’d probably be as angry and aggrieved as you. It’s a carnival mirror of reality.
But coming back to the issue at hand: Rob Bloxom is in the pocket of special interests outside of the district, and always has been.
It’s utterly hypocritical for him or anyone in his camp to point fingers.
Ray Otton says
I don’t watch Fox News so don’t try to pigeonhole me.
I’m not dodging anything.
You want Mr. Hernandez to defeat Mr. Bloxum and you are using the money issue to back up your position.
Honestly, that’s not enough to convince other voters to join you. You’ll need more reasons to convince people to vote for a candidate who represents a political party that supports all the things I listed.
So don’t dodge the issue by talking about right wing bubbles and Fox News. Give us something substantial that will change our minds.
Publius Americanus says
$39,210.oo comes from STATE PARTY groups that are supposed to support their candidates, so subtract that much.
The Va auto dealers assoc, is a STATE wide group, are there no dealerships on the eastern shore? Yes there are, so subtract that.
Beerman says
One Phil Hernandez’s donor’s is an organization called- Sister District Protect, from San Francisco. The organization goal is to “turn Virginia blue”. No thanks, I really don’t think the Eastern Shore needs to be represented by someone with San Francisco values.
Dave says
Phil, AOC, Omar, etc. This is not who we are on the Shore. If it comes to that God help us. Too often in America we vote for a pretty young face. We need experience on the Shore. VOTE BLOXOM.
