New Event Venue coming to Cape Charles

November 17, 2019 by 4 Comments

Northampton County Board of Supervisors approved a special use permit for an event venue to be located in the old Edgerton warehouse in Cape Charles.

The D.L. Edgerton Seafood warehouse is located on the south side of Stone Road. It was built in 1909.

TRE Investments, LLC, in coordination with Rosemary Loft, LLC, have applied to rezone the existing TE-1 (Town Edge-1) zoning designation to TE-CG (Town Edge-Commercial General) for the purpose of establishing the event venue.

Events will be hosted inside the 10,000-square-foot building, and on the five-acres surrounding the venue. The applicants estimate the venue will hold up to 350 people.

Structural engineers have examined the warehouse, and while some issues were found, the overall bones were described as good and worth saving.

While we are glad to see this old derelict building restored and used, as neighbors, we are concerned with noise levels. I understand the events will be inside, but that is no guarantee that loud music won’t be heard and party-goers will be considerate after, say, 11 PM.

I agree that noise levels and courtesy for neighbors is a concern. The area is well populated. Glad the building will be saved.
