2018 NCBO Summer Internships Announced
The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office will again offer students opportunities to explore career paths and gain experience in Chesapeake Bay-related sciences through summer internships in 2018.
These paid internships will each run roughly 12 weeks, from mid-May through mid-August. Undergraduates may apply for all three internships; students who have completed their undergraduate degree and graduate students are also welcome to apply for the hydrodynamic modeling internship. Internships are a great way to contribute to the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office’s work toward protecting and restoring the Bay.
Two of the internships are based in the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office’s Annapolis, Maryland, office:
Oceanographic Instrumentation Support Intern, including helping with instrumentation, data entry, and field work on the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System
Field Technician Intern, including assisting with hydrographic surveys that help scientists and resource managers better understand the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem
NCBO will also offer an internship in partnership with the NOAA Mid-Atlantic River Forecast Center based in State College, Pennsylvania:
Hydrodynamic and Hydrologic Modeling Intern, including evaluating the effects of improved freshwater inflow modeling on the Chesapeake Bay Operational Forecast System’s salinity simulations
These internships are offered in partnership with the Chesapeake Research Consortium.
Applications require a cover letter, resume, and two references, and are due by February 20, 2018. Get more information and apply today. With questions, contact Bart Merrick (bart.merrick@noaa.gov).
