Northampton Schools Superintendent Eddie Lawrence released the following statement to students Monday:
“After careful consideration of a variety of factors the Northampton County Public Schools administration and school board have decided to sustain our policy of universal masking for all students. Please know that this was a difficult decision to make but we feel it is the right one at this time given the rapid spread of COVID-19 in our schools and community at this time.
“It is our understanding that, even with this executive order, Virginia commonwealth law allows divisions the flexibility to continue requiring masks if their elected school boards choose to do so. We will continue to seek guidance from the Virginia Department of Education on this matter.
“As a division, our top priorities are to protect the health and safety of everyone in our buildings and maintain in-person learning for our students. By continuing to require masks, we can help reduce the spread of the virus and avoid high numbers of exposures, quarantines, and positive cases that can disrupt the learning process.
“We know that not everyone will agree with this decision. We ask for your understanding as we work to do what we believe is in the best interests of our students, families, and staff.”
For those who wring their hands at Youngkin and DeSantis letting parents decide whether to mask their own kids, if Gov. Youngkin letting parents decide what to do with their own children makes you uncomfortable, that’s a you problem.
Yes, Covid-19 is a rough, terrible virus, but will someone just say it….masks don’t work, they don’t stop the spread. Just face it (no pun intended). Your 1st grader is wearing a freaking Batman cloth mask for absolutely no reason. It’s a facial decoration, we all know it, and petty tyrants (who don’t wear masks themselves) are forcing your kids into them for absolutely no reason.
Do we still have faith that local school boards have any idea what they are doing?
The mask mandates are unscientific, vindictive, mean-spirited, and promote segregation. The American people have a moral obligation to oppose unjust laws and mandates like this.
Our kids deserve the sanity and normalcy that other kids have. They deserve the sanity and normalcy that their geriatric overlords afford to themselves, even though they are far more at risk than they are.
Media and government over the past 2 years have succeeded in creating a nation of neurotic sheep who follow mandates as if they are gospel and who have lost their ability to think critically and evaluate mask requirements for what they are: a sham for exercising control and demonizing those that won’t comply.
Stupid is as STUPID does! You can’t fix STUPID. The idiots in charge don’t even follow the science. Progressive Democrat Liberals on Steroids. Haven’t you figured it out yet? It’s all about control. You comply and they have made you their SLAVE.
It’s about safety. It’s about infection control. It’s about taking steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the schools.
It is a good thing that I do not have any kids in the public school system, today. I would show them very quickly just who was in charge of my child and a mask.

There will be ZERO deaths that way-from traffic accidents- and that’s what you want, yes?
Millions will die from hunger, lack of medical care, infrastructure etc…..but that ONE metric of accidents disappearing will make you gleeful, yes?

1) The data is clear on mask effectiveness — they work, period. Anyone who tells you different is either mistaken or lying to you.
2) Nobody is forcing your child to wear a mask. You don’t have to make your child wear a mask if you don’t want to. However, your child won’t be allowed in school without one, just like shoes. If that’s not acceptable you have alternatives. If you can’t find a private school willing to indulge you, you can always teach your child yourself at home. If you are firm in your beliefs about masking, and if you truly care about your child, that shouldn’t be a problem.
3) You have a right to expect your child’s school to be a safe environment. That’s why they got rid of the steel pipe monkey bars — they weren’t safe. By the same token you have a right to expect that other children won’t be spraying contagious diseases all over your child. That’s why the rest of the children at school are required to wear masks — to protect your child. Now it’s your turn to return the favor, so suck it up buttercup.
Believe me, I hate the idea of my child having to wear personal protective equipment just to enter a school building, just as I hate having to wear steel-toed shoes and a hard hat just to enter a construction site. Maybe we can work together to make school buildings safer. I hear better ventilation can help, and it sure wouldn’t hurt to get those kids vaccinated. Smaller classes with more space between the desks seems to help too, and that wouldn’t be a bad idea anyway. But until we get there it sure would help if we could somehow stop those kids from waving their naked mouths at each other.

It is increasingly clear to every first world nation (except the U.S.), that mask wear by school children has little, if any, effect in controlling virus spread. There is no scientific data to support mandatory mask wear, but there is overwhelming evidence of the harmful effects on young children. So why do we continue to abuse our children by this cruel and unnecessary practice? Because irresponsible leaders, corrupt health officials and fake news have scared the populace shitless. A large segment are convinced that masks and vaccinations are the way to salvation from the pandemic, so everyone must comply with the mandates or be ostracized and isolated.
