Oceans East Comes to the Eastern Shore

June 28, 2020 by Wayne Creed 3 Comments

For over 28 years, Chris’s Bait and Tackle served the lower Shore with probably the best, most professional, and dedicated service of any business located here. But, after 28 years, the husband and wife team decided it was time to move on and do something new.

The shop has been sold to Oceans East, one of the premiere bait and tackle stores in Hampton Roads and the Outer Banks.

EO is open 6am -7pm Monday thru Saturday and Sunday 6am-6pm. Store manager Justin told us that they are still in the process of finishing the final touches and waiting on more inventory, but there is still plenty to come and check out.

OE has fresh bunker

Oceans East carries a superior line of fresh and artificial baits, but as always, the bunker goes fast.

OE also carries all of the top brands in rods, both salt and fresh, including top spinning and casting rods by Shimano, Penn, Billfisher, and Daiwa.

High end merch from COSTA, HUK, and YETI is also available.

As always, the staff is here to keep you up to speed on what’s happening in and around the shore.

Located at 28316 Lankford Hwy Cape Charles, Virginia, you can call (757) 331-3000 to get the 411. Or, see what’s happening on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Easternshorebait/

As Chris did for years, OE will continue to weigh and post pictures of your catch.

This is NOT the local hometown friendly bait shop anymore. No warm greetings will be given here, buy something and get out, no help or small talk, just pay here. I get it though, its the new norm for shops on the Shore” Tourist traps with an attitude”. Chris and Mark you will be truly missed.

    Progress?
Started camping, crabbing, and fishing on the lower eastern shore in the early 70’s at Renee and Antwaun”s Silver Beach Campground. They were told by the guberment that they couldn’t groom or alter the beach and grounds. Weeds and bugs proliferated. Business waned. Then the ymca came in and guess what?? Bulldozed the dunes and altered the area.
Family had purchased property and we have the memories.
Chris’s, many other family favorite restaurants, bait shops,, hardwares, and local businesses where one could chat for hours—
    Haven’t been since the change.
Often, the more advanced we become the further behind we are — hope this isn’t the case
