Open Positions Available for Town Boards and Commissions

October 17, 2021 by 1 Comment

There are unfilled positions on some of Cape Charles’ town boards.

The Cape Charles Building Code Board of Appeals and Harbor Area Review Board each have open positions.

If you would like to serve serving on either of these boards, or any of the other town boards or Planning Commission,
please complete the Application for Boards and Commission and return it to Town Clerk Libby Hume at 2 Plum Street, Cape Charles, VA 23310 or email it to clerk@capecharles.org.

What do these boards do?

The Building Code Board of Appeals meets as needed to hear appeals concerning the Uniform Statewide Building Code. This board consists of five members who serve five-year terms.

The Harbor Area Review Board (HARB) meets as needed and oversees the Town’s Historic Harbor Area Overlay District. The HARB has the power and authority for issuing or denying Certificates of Appropriateness for construction, reconstruction, substantial exterior alteration, razing, or relocation within the Historic Harbor Area Overlay District. The HARB consists of a total of seven members – three citizens, one Town Council representative, two Planning Commission representatives, and one Historic District Review Board representative.

The citizen positions serve five-year terms.

After a number of applications have been received, interviews will be scheduled with the Town Council prior to the Council making the appointments.
