So, about last night’s golden globes.
Yes, black is a good color.
It is a flattering color.
Especially, on a tuxedo, worn by a man.
Except, there were basically no men at the Golden Globes last night.
No Brad Pitt. No Affleck Bros. No Woody Harrelson. No Ryan Gosling. No Javier Bardem.
Just their victims – all in black.
And their guru -the quintessential Queen of Mediocrity, Oprah. And her wft is his name, anyway? He was there too. In a tux.
And the Meryl, the all-brilliant Meryl, the-never-will-do-anything-wrong Meryl was there. But not her husband. I don’t think he grew the balls. They just probably fell off.
Sorry.
I saw a gathering of mediocrities. Congratulating each other. Congratulations. You have screwed over everything that your culture represented.
And once again, where were the men? – Yana Djin, poet.
Oprah Winfrey’s Golden Globes speech on Sunday evening, which has been described as brave, also prompted NBC to tweet something about her being our next president— the speech has also been called the launching point for Winfrey’s White House run.
So, Oprah, in her speech went on about how sexual harassment was bad, even after years kissing around with the poster boy for sexual assault, Harvey Weinstein? And possibly helped him acquire young actresses for his stable.
Please. We are supposed to applaud these people for all of a sudden being woke. No, they were all aware of this…all aware of Mr. Weinstein. The entire town, the entire Hollywood industry has been predicated on sexual abuse…Meryl Streep and the rest actually gave a standing ovation for Roman Polanski at last year’s Oscars. No need to say much more about her.
The new Hollywood message of empowerment reeks of hypocrisy. This is the same group that gave Woody Allen a Lifetime Achievement Award.
And where was Rose McGowan, who lost her career thanks to Weinstein, and who led the #MeToo movement? Where were the other victims?
Instead of smugly patting each other on the back, why not an apology for doing and saying nothing, for enabling it to protect your own career? How about a little guilt?
Paul Plante says
YES!
And it looks like Oprah is offering Weinstein a cookie on a plate there.
The caption should be: “Make nice to the powerful man, little girl, and he will get you in the movies.”
Ray Otton says
Oprah, the PERFECT Democrat candidate:
Spokesperson for Weight Watchers, can’t control her own weight.
Gives marriage advice to couples, is not married.
Gives child rearing advice to parents, has no kids.
Lectures on racism, 90% of employees at TV network are black.
Supports the #MeToo movement, covers for sexual predator.
Supports global crisis legislation, flies around in private jets.
Supports increased gun control legislation, has armed guards.
Made her fame giving things away on her show, Mr. Trump made his fame teaching people how to succeed on his show.
Kenny Hickman says
Why do Americans hold actors in such high esteem? Why do they use the soap boxes that small minded Americans put them up on to preach politics?
I say, ‘Shut up and Dance.’
These people are paid to entertain us, not preach politics.
It is a shame that small minds have made them feel like they are more than what they really are.
Paul Plante says
Consider Rome in the time of Nero and the esteem in which actors were held.
Time is a loop, round and round it goes and often, the future is the past.
RICHARD M LEAL says
Black is not a colour yes this is the correct spelling.
