It has yet to sink in that we have lived through an attempted coup against an incoming President of the United States.
Evidence already indicates that a subversive effort was mounted from inside the US government under Barack Obama, and from outside the US government by entities including the Hillary Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee and their law firm, Perkins Coie. Plotters include Obama White House, “Intelligence Community,” and Justice Department officials, some of whom continue to serve in the Trump administration. This same effort has international dimensions, encompassing elements of British and Russian intelligence, coordinated through the “opposition research” firm of Fusion GPS, which almost looks like an intelligence agency itself, and whose own services include open conduits into the media, some of them paid.
On December 11, 2017, we learned from James Rosen about a married couple, Bruce and Nellie H. Ohr, and their respective connections to Glenn Simpson, Fusion and the “dossier.” Bruce Ohr was a senior Justice Department official until his demotion one day before Rosen reported on Bruce Ohr’s secret contacts with DNC/Hillary/Fusion contractor Christopher Steele and Fusion chief Glenn Simpson. Bruce’s wife Nellie H. Ohr, we also learned, was working for Fusion on anti-Trump research — perhaps on the “dossier” itself — even as her DOJ official-husband was secretly meeting with Fusion “dossier” principals.
Writing at Tablet, Lee Smith reports on an indiscreet posting on Facebook by Glenn Simpson’s wife, writer Mary Jacoby. On June 24, 2017, Jacoby took to Facebook and wrote:
“It’s come to my attention that some people still don’t realize what Glenn’s role was in exposing Putin’s control of Donald Trump. Let’s be clear. Glenn conducted the investigation. Glenn hired Chris Steele. Chris Steele worked for Glenn.”
The salacious and unverified Steele Dossier was used by the FBI & DOJ to target the Trump campaign in its Russia investigation, but it turns out the Steele Dossier was itself likely a part of a Russian disinformation campaign against Trump.
The FBI & DOJ used a dossier containing Russian disinformation compiled by a British ex-spy at the behest of Fusion GPS paid for by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC via Perkins Coie to illegally target and surveil a former member of Donald Trump’s campaign.
Declassified footnotes from the Justice Department watchdog report on the FBI’s Russia investigation revealed new details indicating British ex-spy Christoper Steele’s dossier was likely compromised by disinformation efforts carried out by Russian intelligence.
In the report released in December, DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz described “Person 1” as a “key Steele sub-source,” who was attributed with providing information in Steele’s dossier. The newly unmasked details show that a document circulated among members of the Crossfire Hurricane team in early October 2016 showed that Person 1 had “historical contact with persons and entities suspected of being linked to RIS” — or Russian Intelligence Services. The document described reporting that Person 1 “was rumored to be a former KGB/SVR officer.” Further, the declassified footnote shows in late December 2016 DOJ official Bruce Ohr told SSA 1, believed to be FBI agent Joseph Pientka, that he had met with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson, who assessed that Person 1 was an “RIS officer” central in connecting President Trump to Russia.
“It’s ironic that the Russian collusion narrative was fatally flawed because of Russian disinformation. These footnotes confirm that there was a direct Russian disinformation campaign in 2016, and there were ties between Russian intelligence and a presidential campaign — the Clinton campaign, not Trump’s,” – Senator Grassley.
