Scott Taylor, candidate to re-claim Congressional seat, filed to appear on the election ballot

March 15, 2020 by Wayne Creed 2 Comments

Virginia Beach, VA – On Tuesday, March 10th at noon, the Taylor for Congress 2020 committee filed for Scott Taylor to appear on the ballot as candidate for Virginia’s Second Congressional District. This filing applies for ballot access for the Republican Primary on June 9th 2020.

The campaign has received the endorsements of GOP leaders and local citizens alike. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy named Scott Taylor to the Young Guns program, identifying Taylor as representing the conservative values and being the most competitive candidate to win back the district for Republicans.  Scott Taylor’s supporters have come out in force to numerous events hosted throughout the 2nd District. The grassroots support for Taylor to win the Republican Primary and General Elections is evidenced by the momentum in the local community, complemented by national-level GOP attention.

Well over 1,000 voters from all over the district showed up to sign and put Taylor back on the ballot. Taylor commented, “I am humbled and fired up by the support of our community.  My passion for the prosperity and welfare of my constituency is exactly why I am back in this race. The endorsement and support of experienced, senior leaders of the GOP demonstrates our ability to execute a win – in June and November. Now that we’re officially on the ballot, the work of sharing our positive message far and wide continues to ramp up.”

House Republican Leader and head of the Young Guns Program, Congressman Kevin McCarthy expressed his support of Taylor’s congressional campaign: “The Democrats have discredited the House of Representatives with their impeachment, and we need to elect a Republican majority this year to get Congress back on the right course. Scott Taylor was one of the most effective members of Congress, and Virginia’s 2nd District should return him to Washington this year. Elaine Luria and her fellow Democrats have failed their constituents, and Scott Taylor will defeat her this year because of it.”

Taylor added, “Virginians and Americans deserve better than the current neglect offered by Luria’s office. It’s more than just the impeachment sham – she is underserving the hardworking men and women back. As your congressman, I will deliver on campaign promises and bring results from DC. My supporters know this and I have the record to prove it.”

About Scott Taylor: Scott Taylor was raised by his mother, a single parent, in a small town on the Eastern Shore. School, athletics, and early employment taught Taylor responsibility and strong work ethic — but most influential in building his character was his impactful mentorship from the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. Through these positive influences, Taylor overcame the considerable odds against him to become a Navy SEAL. After 9/11, Taylor re-enlisted and deployed to Iraq where he sustained serious injuries on a combat mission during Operation Iraqi Freedom. When he returned stateside, he became a successful real estate developer and used the G.I. bill to receive a degree from Harvard. Taylor again felt called to serve; he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates (2014-16) and then to the U.S. Congress in 2016, defeating a 16-year incumbent. While in Congress, he was appointed to the House Appropriations committee and served on the Homeland Security, Military Construction/Veterans Affairs, and Legislative Branch subcommittees. In addition to securing important funding for the military and long overdue VA reform, he helped pass the Ashanti Alert Act, which was signed into law in 2018. Taylor has been looked to as a leader by his peers and the media for his domestic and foreign policy knowledge. He resides in Virginia Beach.

Regrettably the article left out Taylor’s failure to pay real estate taxes until he was “reminded” and his ” lack of cooperation with investigators in his sham petition to throw an election by faking names on a petition to get another Democrat on the ballot. I’m my opinion, he’s undeserving of my vote.
