Southern Tip Bike & Hike Trail Dedication Ceremony May 17

May 12, 2019 by Wayne Creed Leave a Comment

May 17, 2019 – 2 PM at Eastern Shore Pottery

27085 Lankford Highway Cape Charles, Va.

We’re just one week away from the Southern Tip Bike & Hike Trail dedication ceremony. You’re invited to join in celebrating completed construction of phase II of the trail next Friday, May 17.

Events kick off at 2 PM at the Eastern Shore Pottery adjacent to the trail head. Senator Lynwood Lewis, Delegate Robert Bloxom, and Director of Virginia State Parks Craig Seaver will join trail partners in marking this milestone. Kiptopeke Elementary School’s second-grade students will also walk the trail leading up to the event.

About the Trail: The Southern Tip Bike and Hike Trail is a paved path approximately 5.3 miles long that carries cyclists and walkers from the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge to the recently completed trail head near Capeville Road. Offering scenic views and easy elevation, the trail is good for all skill levels.

Parking is available on The Nature Conservancy property adjacent to the Eastern Shore Pottery. The ceremony takes place rain or shine. There will be a small tent in case of inclement weather.

Those wishing to walk the trail are invited to stay after the event. All are welcomed to join in the celebration.
