Virginia State Police trooper was injured in an accident Thursday morning on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. The on-duty trooper was in their police car, exiting the second tunnel when it struck a construction vehicle at 7:30 a.m., according to a State Police news release.
Police said in the news release, the trooper, as he was leaving the second tunnel, a construction vehicle pulled into his travel lane. The trooper had no room to get out of the way without hitting traffic head on, police said in the statement, and crashed into the back of the construction vehicle.
A crash investigation is continuing, police said.
