According to the Mueller report, WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange implied that the leaked emails from the Hillary Clinton campaign had been sent by Seth Rich, the slain DNC staffer who was murdered in Washington DC.
Several theories suggested that the Clinton emails were exposed by Seth Rich and that he was murdered in retaliation. Rich was found dead from gunshots in July 2016 in Washington D.C.
Assange made statements implying that Rich had something to do with the emails WikiLeaks had made public ahead of the 2016 election.
The Mueller report, however, continued to hold onto the dubious claims made by the “intelligence community”, the same group that assured us that Saddam had WMDs, that Russia was behind the hacking. Assange, who received the documents claimed otherwise.
“After the U.S. intelligence community publicly announced its assessment that Russia was behind the hacking operation, Assange continued to deny that the Clinton materials released by WikiLeaks had come from Russian hacking,” the Mueller report said.
“According to media reports, Assange told a U.S. congressman that the DNC hack was an ‘inside job,’ and purported to have ‘physical proof’ that Russians did not give materials to Assange,” the report explained.
