Town Crews step up to save C-Pier

June 24, 2018 by 1 Comment

On June 10th, disaster struck the C-Pier restaurant when a burst water line could have done immense damage to the establishment. Public works crews on the scene, understanding the critical nature of the problem, took immediate steps to minimize the damage. Below is a letter sent to the town by C-Pier manager Smitty Dize, thanking the crew for a saving the C-Pier quite a bit of damage:

Dear Mayor and Town Council,

Sometime after our restaurant closed on the night of June 10th, one of our water lines in the kitchen busted. It wasn’t till the morning of June 11th that we found the issue. At that same time, staff from the department of public utilities was on site investigating a different problem.

Initially, we thought that most of the water had gone down the drains in the kitchen and all was okay, we soon found out that over half of the dining room was flooded. The staff from public utilities immediately jumped in (without being asked) and helped us get the water off the hardwood floors as fast as we could to prevent major damage. Although the floors will need to be replaced eventually if it wasn’t for the assistance of town staff members we may have had to replace them during our busy season.

We would like to thank the following for just jumping in when they didn’t have to and the professionalism they showed while assisting us in an unexpected situation. Billy Powell, Dan Dabinet, Gerald Elliot, & Ralph Bowen we can’t thank you enough.
