Town Manager Larry DiRe is Resigning

September 1, 2019 by Wayne Creed 2 Comments

Town Manager Larry DiRe has notified Town Council that he has decided to resign from his position.

The original request was to the post on September 30th, but DiRe has requested a six-month modification to the employment agreement to leave March 31, 2020.

DiRe told the Mirror, “I came to that decision in the spring and told Smitty as much in early June. The town and organization both could benefit from a fresh set of eyes in that position, and I need a change of scenery in both my private life and career. Still, seven months off and work needs to be done on a number of matters. So I think I’ll be busy and the taxpayers will get their money’s worth. Not applying anywhere yet, but networking and hope to have my next appointment resolved by early February.”

Cape Charles’ loss will certainly be someone else’s gain.

Sad to hear. Larry has done an outstanding job in both positions he held with the Town. He is knowledgeable and diplomatic in dealing with all us Cape Charl0tins. He will be missed. It will be difficult to find someone of his quality to fill his shoes.

Gee I wonder why the managers always quit? Could it have something to do with Bob Panek? He is the common denominator in this equation. LOL!
Get rid of Bob and the managers won’t quit!
