The warm weather is here, and with it will come increased traffic in and around Cape Charles. One of the main concerns is golf cart traffic, especially those using carts on Stone Road on their way to the Cape Charles Brewery. While the speed limit is 25 mph in town, it changes to 55 before reaching the brewery.
In 2017, the Town had VDOT conduct a traffic study to see whether reducing the speed limit to 25 mph leaving town all the way to the Brewery was warranted. The study, conducted in 2018 found that a speed reduction in that zone was not warranted.
The Town has once again taken up the issue and has reviewed the traffic study again. They have decided to make another request of VDOT to again consider a speed reduction in this area. A new resolution was drafted for the April 15 regular council meeting.
Staff continues to work with Cape Charles Main Street to develop a golf cart path solution.

So happy to see this in motion! However, the speed limit should be reduced further down Stone Rd and not just stop at the Brewery. The speed limit should be reduced past Parsons Circle as you head back out towards 13. There is no need to be in a 55 MPH zone while trying to pull into a residential neighborhood or for those families that live directly on Stone Rd. It’s a dangerous section of road when trying to pull on or off due to others driving more than 55 most of the time.

I do agree that the speed limits of 25 should go all the way to Parsons circle rd , no need to go 55 mph . Enjoy life this is the shore
