Town-wide Read is accepting recommendations for next year

November 8, 2020 by Wayne Creed 1 Comment

Town-wide Read is accepting recommendations for next year. Send your recommendation to vtpatriot@charter.net. Persons who submit will then be sent a sheet with all the recommended titles listed and asked to make a single choice.

During the month of January, in both 2019 and 2020, interested Cape Charles readers have selected a book for a “Town-wide Read,” The period of January and early February was the timeframe proposed for reading. In the two prior years, we have also screened a movie having the same title as the book.

To move ahead with the book selection process. readers in Cape Charles and up and down the Eastern Shore are invited to submit the names of books that they feel would be suitable for a read in January 2021. This response will be tallied, and a book selected.

In the past showing a film based on the book was a possible follow-on activity. At this point, we do not know if pandemic guidelines will allow us to show a movie to a sizable group. However, there are ways to work around that.

So, if you would like, feel free to recommend a book that was made into a movie.

Please respond by November 13 so we can take the next steps in the process.

Will send in recommendation: “Broken Trail” by Alan Geoffrion. It was made into a movie starting Robert Duval. Alan lives in Harborton, in Accomack County.
Movie is good, book is better!
