Both golf car incidents on the beach this past week have been worked by the Cape Charles Police. According to Chief Pruitt, the violators were approached on the same day, and one has paid restitution, and the second one has a date with the criminal court.
The second incident involved public intoxication and indecent exposure. The court date is in September.
More golf cart antics
From a reader, “Over the weekend around 9 am as my friend drove down Randolph approaching the post office. He followed a golf cart with 3 on board; he saw female (up to middle-aged) seated in back with a water gun targeting on both sides of the street about 8-10 pedestrians on the sidewalks. It drove on toward the beach after he turned to the library.
Unfortunately no pix.”

Golf carts should not be allowed on the beach period. But a bigger problem is tourist dogs on the beach. I know every town citizen knows that dogs are restricted from the beach between the hours of 9 am to 9 pm. However, I saw a tourist today a 4 pm Sunday with his poodle on a lease walking in the surf. The owner watched his dog take a dump in the water in an area where 4 three year olds were playing. To his credit his wife or girlfriend got out a baggie and fished for the turd. But this is the reason the beach is closed from time to time because of dangerous bacterial out breaks. The town council should address this issue and impose oversight on tourists. It not always about money. Safety is important too.

Totally agree. How can we enforce the ‘dogs not allowed on the beach’ times? Harder still, ‘pick up after your pets’….makes me so mad to see poop on the beach and in the park….and Dave is right about bacterial safety in the water.
