Upscale Resale Boutique Opens in Downtown Exmore,Official Kick-Off Event Set for November 12

November 11, 2016 by Wayne Creed 1 Comment

Seaside Consignment, the newest retail addition to Main Street in Exmore’s downtown shopping district, offers values in new and gently used clothing, accessories and home furnishings to fashion-minded women on the Eastern Shore.

Catering to women of all ages, and all sizes, this trendy new boutique places an emphasis on bringing designer and name brand merchandise within the pocketbook range of the average shopper. “There’s a compelling need for quality, stylish items at affordable prices,” says Mandi Mears, the driving force behind Seaside Consignment. “We already have thousands of items priced and on display for purchase, with more inventory arriving daily.”

Currently, Seaside Consignment carries a wide selection of women’s clothing in sizes XS to 4X, plus handbags, accessories, local art, handmade jewelry, home goods and much more. Special events, such as Small Business Saturday on November 26 following Thanksgiving, and a jewelry workshop on December 9, are planned to support and showcase local talent.

This is the second store in Exmore for Mandi, who opened a children’s resale shop, Munchkins Boutique, in July 2014. When the concept, nearly new at bargain prices, proved successful quickly, Mandi applied the format to an adult-focused business. “Since launching Munchkins, a similar store for women was always in the back of my mind,” says Mandi. “After two years I felt like we had proof of concept and it was time to make the next big leap.”

Mandi studied business management and administration at ESCC and Old Dominion University, but it was the birth of her daughter that motivated her to open the first store. “After three months of being home with a new baby, I was ready to return to work to help support my family,” she says. “I didn’t want to return to a traditional job and brainstormed about what I could do to earn income while still keeping my daughter with me every day. The idea for Munchkins was born.” Munchkins Boutique is the first and only children’s resale shop on the Eastern Shore.

Mandi selected Exmore to open both of her businesses for all the right reasons relative to real estate: Location, location, location! Exmore is centrally positioned mid-shore, and is easily accessible to residents in both Northampton and Accomack counties, as well as to tourists transiting north and south on Lankford Highway, Route 13. “I wanted to stay in Northampton county where I grew up and still reside,” she explains “and of course, there are three schools in town which were exactly the demographics I needed to target as customers for my children’s store.”

Open and ready for business, Seaside Consignment is located at 3282 Main Street in Exmore. You can also find Seaside Consignment online at Facebook.com/SeasideConsignment. Hours are Monday-Friday from 10 am to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The official Kick-off event is set for Saturday, November 12, at 10 a.m. For more information, call 757-678-6531.
