Northampton wrestler Brandan Odom placed 3rd in the 134 lb weight class at the VHSL State wrestling finals.
Odom finished off wrestlers from Franklin, Northwood, Stonewall Jackson
For the third place medal, Odom, who trailed 6-4 with almost no time left, stunned Trent with a takedown to tie the match 6-6, sending it to overtime. At .43 seconds in, Odom scored another 2-point takedown for the win.
In the 170 lb class, Northampton’s Gary Peart finished 5th overall, losing 5-2 in a consolation match to Northumberland’s Chris Davis.
Aizmani Joseph brought a 4th place to Northampton in the 136 class. Aizmani lost to Lane Cash of Riverhead in the semi-finals to earn 4th place.
Mile Lewis brought home a sixth place in a highly competitive 126 pound division. Lewis was 2-3 to finish 6th overall.
Gavin Brittingham went 1-2, and Crescencio Sugia went 2-2. It was there first time at the state tournament.
William Wehner, who wrestles with Broadwater Academy but trains with Northampton, placed 6th in the squirrelly 106 lb division.
